These are a lot of fun but the 38 S&W requires loading your own. I have a similar piece and I swapped on a set of post-war Magnas because those smooth service stocks look and feel awful.

Some of these were used by German police after the war. I get a kick out of mine because it's stamped for a PD in Saxony. That's right, it was once carried by a...wait for it...Saxon pig.

Looks like we can see British proof marks on the barrel. Many of these ex-British guns were reamed out for .38 Special once sold off in the 1950s.
