Broken remington 700 bolt

I have a Remington 700 ADL that I got 18 months ago new. Opening the bolt this evening, the bolt handle came cleanly off the bolt. Has anyone had this happened before?

Wow! Quality Control went out the window. First the left handed 300 Rem Ultra chambers are eccentric to the bore and now this. Remington, wakey wakey! Isn't anyone paying attention at Illion?

That's very strange. Never had it happen but as they say it happens to the best of them. No company is perfect. Give Remington a call and see what they say. Did it actually break as in cracked metal or does it look like a bad weld?

I'm sure this will make some people out there happy. :D

These handles are brazed on. If the bond isn't good, they can peel right off. I just got a copy of Midway's new gunsmithing supply catalog. There is a story in it about the Midway owners being in Africa, and repairing another hunters rifle by super glueing the handle back on. So this does happen. Back to Remington.

It is not common, but it has happened before. Always free fix from Remington. Call them for instructions.

The handle came off due to what appears to be a poor weld.
I plan to call Remington Monday AM. The rifle shoots excellent.
I have owned about a dozen or so 700's over the years and never had this problem or even dreamed of it.

byron, no disrespect to YOU.......

But, it appears they ran out of "Coathangers'...................less expensive than brass..............:(

Only a few firms makes the bolt handle integral with the bolt nowadays. Gone are the days of forged parts. :(

I'd love to see a test of a hammer whacking a brazed on bolt handle versus an investment casted handle.
