Broken Beretta, What to do?

I recently (3 days ago) picked up my new Beretta 89. Well first off upon close examination the edges of the hammer, slide release, and mag release all have a gold (anodizing?) showing through. Kind of looks like the black finish has been worn off. So I accept this though am not happy about it especially on a $650 .22lr. So today I go to the range, and out of about 150-200 rounds (4 different brands) I had to have about 50 FTF's all due to light primer strikes. In fact even on the rounds that went off you can barely even see a mark on the rim. To top it off when I get home I can't even dissassemble the pistol. I know I'm doing it right because it's the same mechanism as my 92FS and I never had a problem with that one. So basically I would like to send this one back and get a new pistol. My question is should I go through the warranty or just go back to the gun store and ask for a replacement? Do gun stores even exchange pistols once they've been fired? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would try the store first, especially if you are a good customer. But with all the paperwork involved, they may just say they will send it back, which you can't really object to (the store didn't make the gun), but which will leave you without the gun for some period of time. Thing is, you probably don't want to tick off the dealer, who can help you in lots of ways.

I don't know of any gun stores that will take a gun back, especially a gun that was sold new and comes back fired. I think every gun store I've been in has a sign on the wall stating all sales are final, no refunds or exchanges.

However, they should help you get it sorted out with Beretta.
