my buddy pulled out his 1187 last night and the stock has broken off of the rest of the gun , he has had this problem 3 times already . any solutions ?
What "solution" does he want? I have no idea why the stocks are breaking and I don't suppose anyone else here does either. Assuming he is not really clubbing rabbits, what ideas does he have? Synthetic stocks are easy to get for that gun, and wouldn't break, but there could be something else wrong.
well it has syn stocks on it now . i see no way for the stock to mount on the frame , it has what looks like tweezers hangin out the back that push on a spring in the stock . it also looks like the stock was glued or epoxyed on , no screws or pins
????????? It sounds like the recoil spring tube has broken where it
attaches to the rear of the reciever. There is supposed to be a tube
sticking out the back of the reciever, maybe 10 inches long. The
buttstock slides over it and is retained by a nut under the recoil pad.
You can buy a replacement tube, but it is NOT an easy install. Gunsmith
time.
Yep, he either unscrewed or broke the recoil spring tube. The tube needs to be replaced, and the stock replaced. Take it to a gunsmith. And if the stock gets loose again, stop shooting and take it to a smith.
