I'm pretty psyched. Today I brought home my first CZ 75. It is a B in 40 S&W. I really like the gun. Can't wait to get some rounds down range.

The lock up feels very solid. The SA trigger is a bit rough. It is full of creep compared to my typical 1911. I know it is no fair to compare.

Since I'm a 1911 guy, it is weird that the sear moves slightly with the safety on...normal?

Long term, I think I will change out some parts to make it SAO, but I'm giving DA/SA the old college try...

I do like the thin grips....any recommendations for some nice wood grips?

Congrats Nathan, and welcome to the club...FINALLY! For the wood grips, I do believe most go with one of the many options from VZ Grips [emoji6]

Pretty good shooter. Functioned 100% with 5 types of ammo. Ok groupings, but I don't have a developed load yet.

.927" slide width....Could be put in the carry roster!

Nice! Congratulations! My first CZ was the CZ75TS. The more accurate shooting of my pair; also the best value. The other one, the second CZ, is a CZ75 SP-01 Shadow Target II; which has an outstanding trigger. I also have a couple of other guns of the same basic design. The more accurate shooter of the others is a Witness Elite Limited equipped with a Henning flat trigger, a bridge/rail and a C-More red dot.

I'd keep it like it is. I much prefer DA/SA in a pistol being carried for self-defense but concede that a little bit of training and familiarization is helpful in making the transition from one configuration to another.

My impressions as a 1911 lover:

Accuracy - Wow....not bad. I can't wait to shoot over a benchrest. Standing 10-15 yard groups were ~2.5-3.5"....not bad. Rapid fire was meaningless. I just don't know the trigger. Sights were fine.

Recoil - seemed a bit stiff...not sure why.

Reliability - everything fed, 5 types of ammo...~120 ish rounds

Ejection - threw case 15 - 20 feet. I'm gonna try a replacement spring.

Trigger pull - DA Smooth, but heavy. SA rough, but light. I need way more trigger time to be sure, but it seems bad.

I like the gun....I need to learn this before I change to sao

I have fairly large hands and those Hogue grips didn't work for me. They pinch my middle finger up against the trigger guard. I put the factory grips back on for now until I find some I like.

I may have to take the leap to a CZ 75. The more I see and read about them the more I think my gun safe needs one.

Congratulations on your first CZ! I was about to take that step a few months ago and got a ruger sr1911 as my first 1911 instead. I am trying to determine what the fist CZ I get will be, the P01 looks like a sweet little gun, I am wanting a light rail on my first one so that limits me.

Congrats on the acquisition of your CZ! I, too, have a fondness for the 1911, but I also own 2 75B's...a 9mm and a 40.

Few guns point or feel in the hand the way that a 75 does, but the OEM triggers leave something to be desired, as you have discovered. Both of my guns have long, creepy and gritty SA trigger pulls, and the hammers "cam" backwards just before the trigger breaks. I hear that there are parts available that will lessen that effect and smooth the trigger somewhat, but I haven't taken the time to look into it any further.

I also had a problem with intermittent case extraction with my 40. A fired case would hang up once every other magazine or so. I installed a Wolff extra power extractor spring, and that seemed to help.

CZ's are excellently made guns and yours should last you for as long as you wish to keep it. Here's a pic of my 40...

Was this a new gun? A fairly common complaint about the CZ's is that the new trigger is a little gritty. Some people pay money to get it smoothed up. Other people pay money to buy ammo, and the trigger will smooth up with shooting (I've read several posts that say they got snapcaps, sat in front of the TV, and dryfired it a lot of times).

I've got 2 older pre B's, smooth and silky, no hint of grittiness in either.
Recoil - seemed a bit stiff...not sure why.
The front of the slide is lighter than a 1911, this aids in pointing like a wand, but may make you perceive it jumping a bit.

I put the factory rubber grips on mine, they look like the plastic ones, but are ultra comfortable. Really aides a lot in the feel, which (as you note) is already good.
