I just picked a zbrouovka brno a.s.vz.24 rifle and I can't find out what caliber it is. serial # XR20805. I believe its a 8mm but not sure and any information will be greatly appreciated.

Really depends on who they made it for. Generally speaking, if it was made for someone in Europe, it will be 8x57 Mauser, if for someone in South America it will be 7x57 Mauser. on edit: generally speaking, there are exceptions.

Check the end of the barrel for an import mark, it may say.

What is on the receiver ring?

The VZ-24 was originally made in 8x57JS, 7x57, and 7.65x53, but many have been reworked/rechambered over the years. I would bet on 8x57JS, and try a round of that caliber, but a chamber cast will make sure.

Does it have the regular Mauser military stepped barrel?
If not, it could be almost anything.

If it is still the military profile...
If it chambers an 8mm then it is not a 7mm or 7.65.
If it doesn't chamber a .30-06 it has not been rechambered to 8mm 06.
