bringing revolver into CA after Jan?

Title pretty much says it all -- I'll be visiting a friend in PRK towards the end of January next year, and though I know the airline will transport the thing (2" S&W model 36, quite old, thank you) -- I wasn't sure how all these new laws will affect bringing it into the state.

I know I can't carry the thing, but is actually having it in my baggage as the plane touches CA runway a no-no?

Any residents have an idea?

Thanks!

Above is the link to SB15. It appears to me (a completely NOT legally trained eye and mind) that the bill concentrates on handguns that are 'for sale'. I've been told by some of the local dealers here in central Kali that private party transfers will still be ok. In my read through the bill (yes its hard to read) I didn't catch anything pertaining to private party bringing in an "unapproved" weapon for personal use, whether traveling or moving here.

The only law I can think of would be the one that requires new residents to register their handguns within 60 days of arrival. As a short term visitor you should be OK. CA requires you to transport handguns unloaded & in a locked case. Also be aware that CA prohibits carrying a gun in your vehicle for the hell of it (self-defense), even when locked in the vehicle's trunk. Once you reach your destination, take your gun with you.

My understanding is SB15 does not apply to used pistols as they could not uniformly 'safety test' them with different owners caring for them differently.
