Breneke KO's through a rifled barrel?

Anyone have any experience with these? They say on the box safe for smooth or rifled barrel. Anyone here agree or disagree? They are extremely cheap at my local gun shop ($4 a box) and I wanted to use them to play around with my new deer set up but would rather not deal with leading in the rifling.

Input please!!!

Brenneke says its safe, I would try them. One thing I have read about Brenneke is they take the slug business very seriously. Doesnt mean they are going to give you the best results from your gun though.

I've been wanting to try those, but I'm having a hard time finding them. Nobody carrys them locally and the shipping charges would kill any economy.

You can always shoot rifled slugs like Remington Sluggers or Brenneke KO's through a rifled barrel, just expect to do more scrubbing with the brass brush when it's time to clean. They tend to lead the barrel about the same way shooting lead bullets through a revolver will.

They shoot well out of my Mossberg 500 with a fully rifled barrel. Pretty much same POI as the Winchester sabot slugs.

However, I have some concerns on their performance. My son shot a wounded whitetail that my buddy had already hit. He was at about 20 yards. When we skinned the deer later I found the slug. It had stopped on a rib, though it did break it. The slugs look like an inverted ashtray or bowl with the opening to the rear. The plastic wad fits in there. The front end is big and flat.

Now I don't know if there was something odd about this particular shot but that's terrible penetration. With sabots out of the same gun I've never found the slug still in the deer and have more than once broken both shoulders.

thats all a friend and I shoot out of our Winchester 1300's with rifled barrels ,there tack drivers and deer killers .

I shoot Foster and Brenneke's through smoothbore and rifled barrels and find no difference in accuracy, just more cleaning to do on the rifled barrel. Only reason I do it is I am to cheap to buy sabot rounds and I like the rifle sights on the slug barrel.
