Bren Ten again?

I heard a rumor that the Bren Ten is going to be reintroduced, possibly by the guy that owns Triton. Is this true? I've always wanted one of these monsters!!! Where can I find out about this more?

Tom,

I talked to Fernando (owner of Triton)earlier this week. He is trying to work out the details to get the rights on the Bren. Now, even if/when the detail are worked out and an aggrement is made Triton will still have to tool up to produce it. So it may be sometime before your able to get your hands on a new one.

The Bren 10 was no "MONSTER". It was ahead of its time. Based on the CZ 75 design, it was killed by the inability to get descent magazines. A reintro with good mags would be an excelant, shootable pistol.

Banzai, you are correct. I reported this from the SHOT Show back in January. Fernando has already purchased the tooling and was negotiating for the intellectual property, I assume that this has beed done. There is some engineering that needs to be done to improve the manufacturing process for the pistol, but that will not present too big a problem. Look for it to be introduced in Jan 2001, but may not be available until as late as Jan 2002 though he was shooting for summer 2001. His big concern was the demand. He is doubtful that there would be a great demand for the pistol and that it may only sell to former Bren X customers. They retail price on the pistol is expected to be in the $900 range. At that price he should sell tens of thousands of them.

As I recall, the Bren 10 was developed because a number of people thought the CZ 75was the finest automatic pistol ever designed, but it was not available in a "serious caliber". (originally it was made oly in 9mm) Now that the CZ97B American Model is available in .45ACP what is the point of trying to bring back the Bren 10?

1) The Bren X is a 10mm, not a .45. 180gr slugs approaching 1500 fps.

2) The Bren X is slimmer, sleeker, and is easier to conceal than a CZ97

3) Sonny Crokett never carried a CZ. :)

Why bring back the Bren Ten? Because I always wanted one as a kid but they were gone way before I was legal to own.

I second Jeff OTMG's reasoning wholeheartedly. The only reason I'd ever want a 4506 was that Crockett carried a 645. Anyone remember the soundeffects for the Ten and the 645? They used the same effect for tank fire in grade B movies. Loved that sound!

The best reason to bring back the Bren is because I'd rather carry a new one for CCW than my first-year production Bren, which i carry every day now. If you're really interested, perhaps an E-mail to Fernando is the ticket so that he knows that interest is indeed out here.
