All the info I have so far is in the title. The shooting occurred "outside Lincoln Park" in Detroit, reporters say they've heard 15 shots, and two people are dead. The gunman is apparently cornered but holding out against police.

They're now reporting that the man was attending a meeting at which residents were discussing him--they were angry about his behavior as a tenant, apparently.
Angered by that, he left and returned with a rifle.

UPDATE

Two Killed in Michigan Shooting
LINCOLN PARK, Mich. (AP) -- A shooting was reported this morning in an apartment complex for senior citizens, and at least two people were killed.

The shooter remained at large, WXYZ-TV said, and an area around the building was cordoned off by police.

WWJ Radio and WXYZ quoted Fire Chief Ernie Moon as saying two people were shot to death. A woman was in critical condition at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital in Wyandotte, hospital spokesman John Lewandowski said.

One witness told WXYZ that he heard about 15 shots; that could not be immediately confirmed.

Kimberly Bowden, who lives in an apartment complex next to the 14-story building in this Detroit suburb, said someone came to her door around noon and told her to stay inside and away from her windows.

''Then I heard some shots. I saw a couple of cops hiding behind trees,'' she said.

Police used loudspeakers to get pedestrians out of the area, Bowden said.

''I heard (an officer) say 'Get out of the line of fire!''' she said.

State and Melvindale police, as well as Wayne County sheriff's deputies, were assisting at the scene, barricaded off in a several-block radius around the building.

For anyone that knows the Linclon Park area,
the shooting has occured in a Highrise apartment complex at Southfield freeway and Fort Street. Some people here believe that this build is a senior citizen housing complex. Right now the two dead are elderly women. Reports have several others wounded but no one can confirm that at this time. Also the shooter is reported to be an elderly man.

This is a damn shame, and I hope they catch the b****rd soon.

I also hope he used a bolt action rifle, since the anti's still haven't screwed up enough courage to go after 'hunting' rifles ... yet.

DETROIT (Reuters) - A disgruntled resident of a senior citizen complex south of Detroit shot and killed two people on Tuesday and injured at least one other person before being captured by police, authorities said.

Officials in Lincoln Park, a Detroit suburb, said two women were killed. A third victim was in critical condition at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds, a hospital spokesman said.

Police took the gunman, believed to be in his mid-50s, into custody about three hours after the shooting began. Shortly before the capture, the gunman's sons went on television to ask him to surrender. He had taken refuge in the upper floors of a 14-story high-rise building.

A woman who witnessed the shootings told WDIV-TV the gunman had been summoned to a meeting with housing authorities at an office next to the tower earlier on Tuesday to discuss complaints from other residents that he behaved inappropriately, told off-color jokes and used foul language.

"He was very upset, and was very upset with some of the ladies who had complained about him," Phyllis McLenon told the television station. McLenon, who was employed at the senior citizen complex, said it housed 114 residents.

One of the gunman's sons disputed the allegations against his father, which included sexual harassment complaints.

"There were some false accusations against him, that's all I know. They were backing him in a corner," the son said.

He had lived in the complex for about a year.

After leaving the meeting, the gunman returned to the office with a rifle and shot two women, then searched for and shot at others before retreating to the tower where he held police at bay, McLenon said.

"I saw her, he had shot her in the face," McLenon said, speaking of one of the victims. She said she hid in a bathroom with others in the office before they were rescued by police.

One of the victims worked for the Lincoln Park Housing Commission. In addition to the housing complex, the facility also includes a recreation center.

Police quickly surrounded the area after the shootings, which began shortly before noon, evacuating residences and locking down nearby schools. Witnesses said the gunman fired several shots from windows high up in the building.
