Branson,Missouri

I'm mainly interested in the gospel shows,do you happen to know if they are posted?It will be CCW anyway.

What are the legal signs like? Are those slash guns signs legal?thanks again.

I have no idea regarding individual shows. You may want to just call the theaters you have an interest in and ask. I would bet it would not be the first time someone asked about the issue. Good luck, and enjoy your visit to the Ozarks. Take time to see the Titanic museum, very nice.

If it is concealed and you are not planning to shoot up the place, just carry and say nothing.
I live near Branson. A better choice is to stay away. The place is crowded, expensive and traffic impossible. Sometimes it is a two hour ordeal to travel one or two blocks on the 'strip'.

571.107. 1.Any private property whose owner has posted the premises as being off-limits to concealed firearms by means of one or more signs displayed in a conspicuous place of a minimum size of eleven inches by fourteen inches with the writing thereon in letters of not less than one inch. The owner, business or commercial lessee, manager of a private business enterprise, or any other organization, entity, or person may prohibit persons holding a concealed carry endorsement from carrying concealed firearms on the premises and may prohibit employees, not authorized by the employer, holding a concealed carry endorsement from carrying concealed firearms on the property of the employer. If the building or the premises are open to the public, the employer of the business enterprise shall post signs on or about the premises if carrying a concealed firearm is prohibited. Possession of a firearm in a vehicle on the premises shall not be a criminal offense so long as the firearm is not removed from the vehicle or brandished while the vehicle is on the premises. An employer may prohibit employees or other persons holding a concealed carry endorsement from carrying a concealed firearm in vehicles owned by the employer;

I spend a lot of time in Branson. I haven't been to any gospel shows, but quite a few others, and plenty of shops, and restaurants. I have never seen the no CCW signs in any of them. The only place is Silver dollar City. No signs, but it is in the information section of the map/daily schedule they have available. But that is also covered in the statute:
(13) Any gated area of an amusement park. Possession of a firearm in a vehicle on the premises of the amusement park shall not be a criminal offense so long as the firearm is not removed from the vehicle or brandished while the vehicle is on the premises;

And then of course there is this section of the law:
2. Carrying of a concealed firearm in a location specified in subdivisions (1) to (17) of subsection 1 of this section by any individual who holds a concealed carry endorsement issued pursuant to sections 571.101 to 571.121 shall not be a criminal act but may subject the person to denial to the premises or removal from the premises. If such person refuses to leave the premises and a peace officer is summoned, such person may be issued a citation for an amount not to exceed one hundred dollars for the first offense.

Not that I am encouraging anyone to violate a provision of the law that could result in you being asked to leave, or get a hundred dollar "traffic ticket".:D

Well,I figured nobody would know about it anyway as its concealed but I didn't want to wind up in the pokey as that would ruin my whole honeymoon.

No worries, even if they have a proper sign it's not illegal, I carry everywhere except work and the bank.
And in MO you don't have to worry about that either, unless they have a sign posted. It was even on the news a few months about a Bank in the St. Charles MO. area that had signs saying "Concealed Carry Welcome"!

Haven't been up there in a few years, but me and the family have been there several times, have always carried, have been to the magic show, Ride the Ducks, Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede, and the Polynesian (I know I probably murdered the spelling) Fire Show (very good show). Have had no problems with any of them. Next trip going to go see Dick Clark's Rocking 50s car museum.

A bit OT, but so you know, no Dick Clark car museum. Branson Auto Museum is where Engler's Block used to be. No more Area 57, but they are supposed to be doing something with it. No more Dick Clark's American Bandstand Diner. It's been replaced with Midtown Diner. Same owner as Uptown Cafe. The Dick Clark American Bandstand Theater is still there, and The Legend's in Concert appear there.
Just thought you might want to know.
Back on topic, I carry everywhere in Branson, no problem.

From post #7 above..

I wonder how many definitions of 'brandishing' there are. I suspect here they mean-showing the gun. That is not a definition of brandishing in this state nor is it briefly showing from an object of clothing 'sliding up' while one reaches or bends down.

This thread makes me laugh. In Rhode Island, there are no signs or laws about proprietors banning concealed carry. And the reason is simple, no one actually carries concealed! It's not illegal with a permit but it's such a foreign concept to most people that it has never been addressed in the law. It must be kind of fun to walk into a place that has a sign saying "Concealed Carry Welcome!"

The only reason the "forbidden" places are in the Missouri law is that it was necessary to get the law passed. Some thought the supporters of CCW in Missouri should have taken an all, or nothing at all approach, and rejected the rule. Had that been the case, we would have had nothing at all! However, in return for allowing the exempted locations, the supporters got to write the minor penalty for violating the provision. Ask a person carrying to leave, call the police if they don't, and a $100 ticket if they still object.

I've only been to Branson once, about 5 years ago, went to several shows and always had my revolver in my pocket. Never thought anything about it.

I didn't see any signs one way or other.

Of course I'm of the "don't ask, don't tell" and "concealed is concealed" crowd when it comes to carrying my revolver.

(14) Any church or other place of religious worship without the consent of the minister or person or persons representing the religious organization that exercises control over the place of religious worship. Possession of a firearm in a vehicle on the premises shall not be a criminal offense so long as the firearm is not removed from the vehicle or brandished while the vehicle is on the premises;

As per paragraph 14 of MO code, I'd be careful in those gosspell shows. If they follow the singin’ with preachin’ and passin’ the plate, then you may be in a place of religious worship and end up makin' a donation to the state. :D

Dag-nabit, I do like Silver Dollar City and now I discover they only want you to use the guns they provide (The Flooded Mine).

I take in a show now and again when the wife drags me to Branson. I have never seen a sign at any show I have been to so far. If I had, I would not have spent any of my money with them.

The owner of Silver Dollar City came out against conceled carry in Missouri when we were trying to get it passes. I have not spent a Cent at Silver Dollar City since then either. It's a Free Country, he can support or not support whatever he want's to. I on the other hand I do not have to spend any money with him either.

Enjoy the shows.

Bob
