Bragging Rights

My 15 year old daughter shoots the 4-H rimfire match every Sunday (14 matches), standing, off-hand shooting at 50 feet. There are 6 or 7 kids that shoot every week, 3 young ladies, 4 young men. I bought her a CZ model 455 last year and outfitted it with a Weaver rimfire scope.

Today she shot her highest score for the season, 281 out of 300 and is leading the group in high score and high average.

This was her best target this year, 97 out of 100. The center top target is the warm up then they shoot for score, two shots at each of five remaining targets, 100 possible points per round.

Nice shooting by the young lady. Congratulations. It's great to have an activity you can share with your kids regardless of age or sex.

I've one of those daughter's that keeps me bragging as well. Especially when it comes to shooting. Tell the young lady to keep it up, and good job!

I remember getting my clock polished by a 12 year old girl at what us Aussies call hunter benchrest (.22 LR). And I should point out that twelve is the youngest age you are legally permitted to have a firearms licence or to shoot in Australia (I say this not to start a debate about the laws but solely to point out how inexperienced she must have been at actual, official competition).

Roughly 12 months later, I got my clock polished again, by another 12 year old-ish girl who looked remarkably familiar. When I asked her if she was the same girl, she replied, "No, that was my big sister."

Congratulation to her but especially to you for teaching her so well. You obviously know how to teach and keep her interest and that can be tough with a teenager.

Just keep encouraging her. In another lifetime I used to shoot competitively, never was that good, now I shake too much. That is some great shooting! GW
