Brady "State Grades" vs. Violent Crime

I've just finished making a spreadsheet comparing the new 04-05 violent crime statistics (http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/05cius/data/table_04.html) with Brady's state letter grades for 2005. TFL won't let me upload an excel file, so you'll have to email me for the full version.

Here's a summary though:

On "Rate vs. National", 1.0 means roughly equal crime to the national average. 2.0 means about twice as much crime. Etc.

On "Change vs. National", 0.0 means the 2004-2005 change in rate was comprable to the National average. 1.0 would mean an increase 1% higher than average, -1.0 is 1% less than average... Pretty simple.

By the way, all numbers are rounded to the nearest tenth.

Cheers,
Wolfe.

Wow. Michigan goes up 12+ in violent crime but down 4+ in murders and non-neglegent homicide. I guess there is a reason we have two cities in the top five of "the most dangerous" list.
