Brady Gun Control Campaign All Wet, Say Nation's Top Cops

SPRINGFIELD, Ill., March 2 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The following was released today by the Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA):

The very foundations of the gun control movement were rocked today by the results of a survey taken by the National Association of Chiefs of Police (NACOP). In a nutshell, the survey shows that the nation's top law enforcement officers believe that average citizens can be trusted to responsibly own firearms; that criminals ignore gun control laws; and that concealed carry laws reduce crime.

These revelations come as a stark contrast to gun control movement propaganda that asserts that police officials feel that our streets would be safer if law-abiding citizens were disarmed.

Specifically, the survey revealed that 93 percent of chiefs and sheriffs felt that citizens should be able to purchase firearms for sport and self defense; 73 percent opposed so-called "one gun a month" laws; 96 percent believed that criminals ignore gun control laws and; 63 percent supported laws that allow citizens to carry defensive firearms as a means to control crime.

"These survey results are important and timely for the law- abiding Illinois firearm owner," said ISRA Executive Director Richard Pearson. "The General Assembly is currently considering HB2414 which would ban most of the guns owned by law-abiding citizens in Illinois. The legislature is also considering legislation that would shut down most of the lawful gun shops in the state. The supposed justification for these two bills is that they would result in a safer society. Well, based on the chiefs' survey, it would appear that the gun control movement is standing all alone on that assertion."

"I hope that the Illinois General Assembly is paying close attention to what our top cops have to say," continued Pearson. "It's time for the legislature to stop trying to find ways to harass the law-abiding gun owner and start finding ways to keep criminals in jail and off our streets.

---

Since 1903, the ISRA has been the state's leading advocate of safe, lawful and responsible firearms ownership.

If I lived in Ill I would notify the politicians there that if these new laws passed I would move out of the state.

And if they did- I would.

Maybe everyone who loves freedom will finally get pushed to Arizona or Wyoming or something and then they'll be one state that is left alone. That's the way it looks some days.

Problem with this line of thought is that Illinois represents 2 senate votes, 15 (I think?) House votes and 17 electoral votes at the federal level. If all the gun owners (Predominantly right-wing) leave, those seats go to the left.

Same thing for New York, California, and I hear Pennsylvanians making similar noise.

If all the gun owners are in Montana, Alaska, Arizona and Wyoming, then there isn't enough political power in WashDC to stop federal anti-gun legislation.

Honestly, all the gun owners just need to breed heavily.:p Seriously, if we all raise 4+ gun-savvy kids a piece, we will outpopulate them in a generation. Blue-blooded Liberal social experimenters get married and have dogs. Most gun-owning red blooded americans get married and have families. We just have to outpace the explosive hispanic population growth too, as that will probably become a liberal stronghold.

So when are you moving to California or New York? :p

Not necessarily. If everyone were to move, it would require the electoral vote percentages to be changed (it is based somewhat on population). Thus, Anti-gun states would lose political representation and the pro-gun states theoretically would pull more sway. I would hope though that we don't have to move just to uphold the rights afforded us in the constitution.

WC-
This is a MAJOR regional chink in HCI's imaginary armor. I thank these respondents for their voices.

I just hope that, one day, we'll see a thread here mentioning "cops" where you can see the glass as half full rather than half empty.

United we Stand - Divided we Fall

Mr. Lucibella is correct; This is a MAJOR regional chink in HCI's imaginary armor.

My definitions:

We: We The People. Preserving Freedoms.

Them: Tyranny; Those whom seek to Destroy Freedoms.

I am frankly quite sick and tired of "Us vs Them" always pitting one group against each other. Of late it seems to mean Civilians versus the LEO Community. Has also been applied to Shotgunners versus Benchrest, IDPA versus CAS Community. So forth and so on.

Folks - I do not give one whit if one is wearing a Badge, Three piece business suit, Mini-Skirt, Scrubs , or as the head hooker in a whorehouse wears only a B-day suit.

Freedom is Freedom - Tyranny is Tyranny.

What the Person inside themselves believes and puts efforts in to uphold is the more important determination as to whether they are a "Us" or a "Them" - not if they wear a badge, uniform or nothing at all.

For too long Tyranny has been chipping away Freedoms. About damn time folks starting Uniting and quit playing into the hands of Tyranny by Dividing themselves from each other and energies that should be used for Preserving Freedom is being channeled to fuel Tyranny.

Every single occupation one can think of has bad representatives. Acceptance is the key. Accept this and get on with Preserving Freedom.

Now I am comfortable enough knowing Mr. March to share something else He DID in taking more Chinks out of the imaginary armor of Tyranny.

If Mr. March wants to call me on this - I take full responsiblity on posting this

This is another fine example of how Mr. March fights Tyranny, something he does quite well I might add. Something we ALL should read and take note of are his use of Documentation to back up facts.

Now we can play Keyboard Kommando - or - we can take the time to learn from TFL and Seasoned Folks on how to Preserve Freedoms; and use our Computers, Internet Connections to learn, and Word Processors to write and defend what is OURS.

Freedom is OURS - WE have to Unite and keep Preserving.

As Always the Brain is the best tool. Many other tools should be in one's toolbox as well.

Tool must fit user for task and user must be trained in the use of said tool - and continue to train.

TFL Library has some great resources: http://www.thefiringline.com/library/

Me too. Agreed, it is a major set back for the gun grabbers.

Don't expect this to hold any sway with the gun-grabbers.

Sway the gun grabbers? Why would anyone expect it to sway a gun grabber? They are gun grabbers. But what about those that sit in front of the TV and soak in the nightly propaganda? It might sway them. There is a network that might mention this. That is the challenge though, getting info like this out to the drones.
