Brady Campaign's response to VA Tech

I don't get it. If a teacher has a CCW and does not tell the students about it, how will they become the target because they are armed? And besides that, even though not allowed to have firearms on campus, the shootings still occur. Either the paper the laws are written on isn't doing it's job or we need to find a new paper source that can enforce these laws that are written on them...

"All we do is ban things as if banning them will stop the use of the banned items. We tried that with alcohol once. Couldn't find a drink anywhere in the roaring 20's couldja? Ban guns. Oh I was gonna shoot that guy but it seems to be illegal now." - Brad Stine

Reason #1: Drugs and Alcohol

Nearly half of America's full-time college students abuse drugs or binge drink at least once a month. For college gun owners, the rate of binge-drinking is even higher — two-thirds.
Plus, college gun owners are more likely than the average student to:
Engage in binge drinking,
Need an alcoholic drink first thing in the morning,
Use cocaine or crack,
Be arrested for a DUI,
Vandalize property, and
Get in trouble with police.

I wonder where that little gem of a statistic came from.

More than 2,000 K-12 students are expelled each year for carrying guns to school. Do we really want armed teachers confronting them? What if a teacher shoots a student?

If they are killing other people, well..yeah. Heaven forbid someone should end the violence early!

badbob,

I think those statistics came from a study that was performed some years ago and they are true but also very misleading, perhaps intentionally.

Male students are significantly more likely to engage in binge drinking, need an alcoholic drink first thing in the morning, use cocaine or crack, be arrested for a DUI, vandalize property, or get in trouble with police then are female students and male student are also far more likely to own a gun then are female students thus those that own guns, predominately males, are more likely to engage in those activities. The intellectually honest might be able to sustain a rational claim of a causative relationship between having male sexual organs and the above behaviors but not between owning a gun and the same behaviors.

I have no expectation at all that the Brady bunch will exhibit intellectually honesty.

Well Taking guns away sure as heck did not work. It never ceases to be of amusement to me. Everytime I think they can't any any more desperate they find a way.

Who writes this.SH.....Crap anyway. I can't get over this one:

Even trained police officers, on average, hit their intended targets less than 20% of the time.
