BPS 10ga firing pin denting primers when cycling action.

Big Pard

Hey fellas, a buddy of mine has a BPS 10 ga that dents the primers when cycling the action. He sent it back to Browning and they said it was "OK" to shoot like that. I have a hard time believing that this gun is completely "OK" to shoot. I looked at a schematic of the gun and it shows no firing pin spring, which I thought might be the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what it might be???

Could be a burr on the pin or inside the bolt causing it to not retract all the way. With the bolt open the firing pin should be recessed into the bolt face. Tell him to take a small screwdriver (or something) and work the firing pin back and forth. It should move freely. If not, it needs to see the gun doctor. If it moves freely but still sticks out a bit...the doctor.
