Boycott Rainbo and Roman Meal Bread

IINM, These are labels owned by EarthGrains, a documented anti-gun company. Eat Wonder, Mrs. Baird's, Flowers, or some other brand instead, please.

Is this true? If it is, all I have to say is DAMN IT! I really like Roman Meal bread but, since I have stopped buying Levi and Hallmark products, I guess I'll stop purchasing Roman Meal bread too. I'll not reward companies that fight against one of my most treasured rights.

What's next? Charmin t.p.?

Oops--when I stopped buying Sara Lee bagels for breakfast I switched to Earth Grains. Sounds like it's time to switch to another brand. Guess I'll go with Lender's or the grocery store's house brand.

I make my own bread, so it's no big deal.

When I got my bread machine everyone told me that I would use it a couple of times and then put it away. I've used it on average once to twice a week for the past 18 months. I'm afraid I'm going to burn the motor out.

St. Louis Rams
St. Louis Cardinals

These sports teams supported defeat of the MO CHL. It is odd that the St. Louis teams, which have a close relationship with Anheuser-Busch, would oppose CHL, given A-B's support of concealed carry.

There is a list of anti-RKBA companies on DC's Internet site. I worked up a list of Tomkins PLC brand names and posted it here some weeks ago.

Mike,

Don't worry about it to much. We've had our bread machine for nearly 8 years, and use it 3xweek.

Besides, it tastes sooooo much better when it is fresh and HOT!

Got wifey a breadmaker for her birthday two years ago. We use it all the time, and have only bought bread once or twice since. Have developed a recipe for "honey wheat" bread that'll knock your socks off! Makes Roman Meal taste like cat litter.

And you KNOW what's IN the bread YOU make!

Oh yeah... HOT bread with melted butter.... The SMELL of the whole house while it's baking... Crap, now I'm hungry!

I recently got the Electric Bread and More Electric Bread books for my birthday. One of them, I think it is the first one, has a FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC recipe for a Blue Cheese and Port Wine bread.

It is just out of this world with steak or lamb, and is great for sandwiches.

My standard loaf is an oatmeal white that comes from the manual that Red Star packed with the machine.

I'm truly afraid I'm going to burn the motor out on the machine.

Well, would you mind posting your recipes? I'm always looking for a good loaf of bread.

To keep the subject on topic, you could include your favorite handloads, also.

Ok, here is the recipe for the Oatmeal white bread. I've made it so many times I know it from memory!

1 cup of water, room temp.

3 Tablespoons oil (butter works nicely, but don't use olive oil, it doesn't go well)

3 Tablespoons sugar (honey works well)

1 1/2 teaspoon salt (I normally cut this back)

1/4 cup of Oat Bran

1/2 cup of oatmeal (You can use 3/4 cup of oatmeal, omitting the oatbran. It gives a somewhat chewier loaf with a slightly coarser texture)

2 and 1/2 cups white bread flour

2 and 1/4 teaspoons yeast (I normally use about 2 and 3/4 teaspoons of yeast to give the loaf a little extra lift)

Use the regular bake cycle.

I've made a LOT of sandwiches with this bread. It also makes very good french toast.

Recipe for "bread machine" wheat bread:

1C water (100-110 deg F.)

1 1/2 Tbs Honey

1 1/2 Tbs Molasses

2 Tbs Butter

2 1/2C White flour

1/2C Whole wheat flour

1 1/2 Tbs Powdered milk

1 1/2 tsp Salt

1 1/2 tsp Yeast

Set the machine for 1 1/2 lb. loaf, "wheat cycle".

Oh baby!

Speaking of these boycotts, the other day my buddy bought me a pair of Levi's 501 jeans as a present for some reason. I took the receipt, went to JC Penneys, and exchanged them for Arizona jeans - turns out I really like the fit of the Arizonas so "it's all good", as they say nowadays.

Also, I should mention that I base the assumption of Rainbo & Romal Meal being Earthgrains-owned on the fact that there's a display ad here in town which advertises Earthgrains, Rainbo, and Roman Meal all on one sign - should be dispository of source of these brands, no?

Futo,
Haven't bought a pair of Levi's in almost a year, unfortunately I have a few pairs that refuse to die.

LEE jeans fit me better anyway and are about $5-10 cheaper on average.
