Boy I wish I'd never sold that one...

Let's hear about the ones you lament. If you've owned a couple hundred or so, there's always a special few you really wish you'd never sold:

1. The banned ones. Most notably my Bushmaster lower/Eagle Arms upper shorty HBAR with collapsible stock. Also my SP-89. Also my SITES Spectre. The odds of me finding any of those for double what I sold 'em for are slim...

2. Collectables. My 1930's matching-serial-number commercial production Broomhandle Mauser. My satin-nickel Series 70 Colt Commander. My unshrouded-ejector, Herrets-stocked, factory Colt hammer shroud Detective Special with that vintage-Colt buttery-smooth DA trigger. You just don't stumble across these in gun shops every day.

3. Oddballs. My TZ-75 in .41AE with the factory rosewood grips. My other TZ-75 in 9mm with the factory case-hardened finish. My Marlin .44 levergun with the barrel cut back to 16" and the action tricked out by our local SASS-type gunsmith. My Browning BDM (traded for a Mac SE/30 that was obsolete 5 miutes later...).

4. Sentimentals. My first gun: Ruger 10/22, bought the same day I turned 18 and registered to vote. My SIG P-228 sold off my hip with it's Bianchi PDQ and 2 spare mags for $800 in the post-mag-gelding hysteria of 1994. My first Glock, a 23 non-FG/R (heck, there were no FG/R's then) with a mess of non-gelded mags. My carefully homemade Jungle-Carbine replica (with homemade sheet metal cone flash-hider!).

Let's hear y'alls wailing & gnashing of teeth. I know I'm not alone... :D

My Dad sold off an original Winchester Model 42 .410 shotgun. I was a bit upset. Then he sold a perfect-condition Series 70 Colt Combat Commander.

Fortunatley, he's come to his senses. Now Dad doesn't sell anything without my approval!

:D

Chris

I miss my Glocks (17,22,26,27).

I had to sell them because all my cash was tied up at the time my former employer went bankrupt, causing "sudden unexpected unemployment" :(

That won't happen again.

1)My first 1911, a pre-WW2 military issue Colt that had been refinished by Augusta Armory (or is that Arsenal?). Had the almost nonexistent military sights and it bit the web of my hand after a few mags, but that gun could just shoot. Sold it to buy a Glock 21 that I wound up not liking.
2)My first Kimber, a Classic Custom that I had hard chromed. AWESOME gun, very accurate and totally reliable. I had to GIVE it to the guy we bought our house from to get a break on the price. I have my stainless Gold Match now and I love it, so it takes a bit of the sting off, but still...
3)Steyr AUG. Sold it when we were expecting our son. It had its weaknesses but it was just one of those "cool" guns you just wish you had. I mostly wish I hadn't sold it because I will never be foolish enough to pay that much again for one.
4)Preban Argentine FAL. I sold it to get the downpayment for our house. I have a preban Belgian now, so it takes the sting off that too. :D But it was a great gun, especially considering how little I paid for it.
5)Colt Sporter Target Blue Label preban. I have other ARs that I like just as well, but I will never forget taking that gun, right out of the box, to my friend's ranch and nailing an armadillo at 175 yards with the first shot out of the barrel, even before I sighted it in.

Colt Python, blue 6". -- My dad had bought that 'for me' when I was still in High School. I competed in shooting sports (Junior Smallbore) since age 13, and we decided to move up to handguns, thus the Python. I only shot they Python for 18 rounds, because those oversize target grips were waaaay too big for my hands and I almost dropped it a few times shooting full-house .357 ammo. I never found out what happened to that thing....

S&W 39-2 -- One of the few full-size auto pistols that I can get my hands around. Most doublestacks feel like a two-by-four in my hand. I got this one in trade for an engine and transmission from a low-mileage classic Cougar I was parting out. (now you know where I picked up my handle) The guy I got it from disputed the trade several years later and I gave him the gun back to shut him up (Long story). I just recently found a replacement 39-2.

Holy %#!& ya'll! I thought I was an idiot for dumping a Stainless 8-shot Mossberg and my "extra" P13-45 (yes, with all three standard caps). It's amazing what a new wife can convince you that you "don't need", until you realize that need ain't got a thing to do with it. Since equating her collection of art with my collection of other things, I am now recovering, even if another used stainless pump continues to eluded my grasp.

I'm missing my Marlin lever 30-30 that I gave to my Dad when he retired, loved that gun!

Big mistake, selling this one. :(

I regret ever selling any, but my Glock 17 with 5 full capacity mags hurts the most.

Lordy, Tamara. Have you owned hundreds of firearms? I own 15 and my family thinks I'm a little occupied with firearms.

One way to never regret selling a firearm is to never sell one. I would give one away to a family member if they'd ask. So far, no takers, fortunately.

Tamara:

That's exactly why SELLING guns is against my religion. Don't believe in it.

Buying guns, on the other hand...

My tale of regret:

Python, 4-inch, blue.
Python, 6-inch, Ultimate Stainless.
Anaconda, 4-inch, .45 LC.
Detective Special, walnut stocks.
Combat Commander, Series 70, 9mm.
Lightweight Commander Model, Series 80, .45.
AR15A2, white label.
Beretta 96F, Italian manufacture.
S&W Model 27, nickel, 6-inch.
Browning BLR .22.
Browning BAR 30-'06.

I'm sure there are more that I can't think of right now--or just don't want to think of!

:( :( :(

H&K P7 PSP...traded in towards a SIG P-225.

Satin-finish SIG P-225 with custom leather shoulder rig...had to sell it when I moved to the US.

Browning GDPA...the predecessor of the BDM, traded it to an Army buddy for his Desert Ego in .44 Mag. Traded one of the best carry guns I ever owned for a boat anchor.

Beretta 92F...my first Beretta, had it refinished in bead-blasted nickel before the Inox Beretta were on the market, just because I liked the look.

SIG P-239 in 9mm...my first handgun bought in the US, traded it for my first Glock, a G-19. The sweetest shooting handgun I have ever owned, and a dream to carry. I'm currently looking for another one in 9mm to replace that one.

NAA Mini-Mag in .22 WMR...loved that little gun, and I must have been on drugs the day I threw it onto the trade-in pile. You do horrible things when you have a new gun in your sights, and you need to bring the out-of-pocket cash price down with a trade.

Spas 12 folder with only a couple dozen shells through it. A Colt Sauer .270 that was absolutely mint and gorgeous. A *&* 29 Classic that I never even fired.

There were many others, but I'd still like to have these back again.
