Saiga 12 vs Other tube magazine semi auto shotguns

Hi guys,
Which is better in your opinion for HD?

I don't think that's a very good question.

A better question would be "Saiga vs EVERYTHING ELSE". Other box magazine fed shotguns are extremely uncommon and hard to find, and poorly suited for home defense.

There's some concern about the top round in a box mag getting deformed over time, but I don't know how serious of a concern it really is.

I voted tube. Shells are big enough that you'd be getting a fairly large box magazine, and a large magazine sticks out.

Tube.

As kozak6 says, it's really a "Saiga 12 vs. the world" thing, since there's really no other box magazine fed shotgun that has any meaningful supply.

I've used an 870 Tactical, I've used a Saiga 12. Own both. The S12 will occasionally nose-up a shell into the top of the chamber, jamming it. Requires retracting and locking the bolt back, removing the mag, reseating things, and then reloading. That takes some real time and attention, and if it happens in a defensive scenario, you're hosed.

I've never had the 870 fail to chamber something. While I like the Saiga and I do keep it set up for defense, if I reach for a shotgun to defend myself, I'm grabbing the Remington.

Saiga vs ?

Tried to take a Saiga and make it a 3-Gun Shotgun several years ago.
Looked great but never could depend on it, went back to the 1100's .

If you put enough $$$ in the Saiga it could be a viable home-defense shotgun. No last shot bolt hold-open which can be added for some $$$. You can stuff the tube as you go with a specific round - slug/buck - and we know for sure that there are some rock solid bet you life on it reliable tube guns - i.e. FN SLP or Bennelli M4 and Mossberg 930 SPX all fantastic choices. The 930 is beginning to be seen for what it is - the best semi-auto for the $$$.

>Title has been changed.thank you for ur input guys.please, keep it up.

Your use of "other" implies the Saiga has a tube mag.

Id say tube... but thats because of cost. IF money was no object I would go magazine.

I also like to hunt with my shotguns and here there is a 3 round rule (2+1 technically) does Saiga make a 2 shot mag?
