After much debate and comparision, I actually went with the Remington 870. The Saiga-12 was cool but I think the novelty of it would wear off. The Mossberg 590 was very robust and was what I was leaning toward originally. However, I went with the 870 because it just felt alot smoother and shouldered better for me. It was also recommended by a few buddies of mine in law enforcement. It was a tough call between the 590 and 870 but the smoother slide won me over.
 
Good luck. I love mine. Now.....wait for it.....wait for it.......It is coming..... you are going to get a bunch of people that tell you the 870 sucks and all the problems it has. Don't listen to them. Take care of it. Clean it, oil it and it will take care of you.

Now, please, peruse the manual and follow the instructions before you think about shooting it right out of the box. I know you're experienced with firearms, so this is mostly for the newbies.
