Bought an Old Stalking Rifle

I just recently bought a European made stalking rifle. Have never owned one before nor know anything about them other than what I read on the net. Always did like the looks and the idea of them, though. Really neat little rifles. I tried posting on another site, but almost no response. Thought I'd try here on TFL.
The side of the receiver is marked Nitro Proof. I believe the caliber is 8.15X46R. Action is underlever break open. There is only a little simple engraving on the receiver. Barrel is octagon and top is all tooled to prevent glare. Bore is excellent. has dual flip-up rear sight and post front. Also has pair of claw mounts but no scope nor rings. The slot for one of the bases was cut right through the maker's name and I assume place of origin. All that is visible is AD. Loe--------deburg VRL. Overall the rifle is in good condition. I would guess it is made in the mid 20's to late 30's.
Any information about this would be really appreciated. I also have no real idea of it's value. After a chamber cast, I will probably try loading up some ammo and shoot it. Found loading data for a 150 gr. bullet at 1,900 fps. Also 190 gr lead bullet at 1,500 fps...
Thank you in advance for looking and any info offered....John

The 8.15X46Rmm had quite the following for many years in Europe, power-wise it was about on par with the 32-40 (which also had a great following). By today's standards it is a bit anemic, but it will kill them dead with proper shot placement. I love old stalking rifles as well, there is something very European and very nostalgic about them, makes you think of the old woodsman in a felt hat stalking through the old growth forests. Didn't happen that way in real life, but the old guns are still very evocative.

Did you get the claw mount scope that goes with it?
