bore wear with brass bore brush

Will it , realistically, harm the bore of a stainless pistol barrel by using a brass bore brush? I used a brass brush this afternoon to scrub out the bore of my new 96G elite and there is a rough spot in the bore. I at first thought this was fouling, but repeated attempts at removing it was unsuccessful. The gun shoots great, however. What concerns me is I used brush in both directions at the point of the rough spot in the bore. I kinda pumped it back and forth a few dozen times. I just read some posts stating reversing the brush while in the bore is bad, but the brush I used this afternoon was quite worn anyway and not really tight fitting. Do you guys think I have any cause for concern? I never really concerned myself with this issue till today. By the way, I use a brass bore brush in my .50 hawken and, as you know, the breech plug forces you to change directions while in the bore. Any help would be appreciated!

I don't know where the rough spot in your barrel came from but I doubt that a brass brush did it....I have seen where they say not to change directions in the barrel, but I have never seen an explanation?????

Two reasons not to reverse the brush in the bore: First it could get jammed in the bore. Second, it ruins the brush.

Since a bronze brush is much softer than the steel barrel, there is little chance it damaged the bore.
