Bore snake

I've always cleaned my rifle with and rod, jag, and brush. this bore snake has got my wondering. The biggest thing i'm worried about is that brush wearing out, then having to buy another bore snake. And do they clean as good as a rod can?

I swear by 'em...especially in the field. Don't use too much solvent (I use none). Run it down the barrel immediately before and after the hunt. Rinse any solvent from the brush with water and they pretty much last forever.

For detailed bench cleaning, I still use a rod. But I've found that 3 minutes of barrel care immediately after a shoot is worth about 30 minutes when you get to the bench 3 or 4 days later.

I bought a whole bunch of these in various calibers at a clearance sale long ago. I realy oughta take them out of thier packages and try 'em.... I'm just too much of a fan of "if it ain't broke don't fix it."
