Bore light

Many ways to skin this cat !!

For one and God knows there are many, there is a series of flex neck LED lights that give you the option of a laser. They are powered by button batteries and on sale, all over the place, for about $4.00. ... ;)

Be Safe !!!

I use one of those flex LED lights, picked it up at a hardware store...display of them sitting by the cash register. Works great on rifles...a little bright for pistols, you have to hold it off to the side.

I have seen a few on the internet but the reviews are mostly saying they are junk. I am looking for someone that has a good one and can tell me what brand or where to get one.

Bore light...

Big Fats--I generally use my thumb nail, too, and in decent light, with a firearm into which my thumb fits, that's all that's necessary.

Rebs--Almost any light you can get into the chamber of the firearm in question, will do the job just fine. Since bore lights can be had for less than $5, why is this a consideration? Just buy the next one you see @ the next gun show you go to--I'm sure it'll work as well as any other. This isn't exactly a piece of "fine machinery."

I've had 3 bore lights--One is just a piece of "J" shaped plastic, that bends the ambient light around into the bore of the firearm. One is the same piece, but attached to a small flashlight, so it works regardless of the ambient light. One is a flexible-neck LED. None was very expensive, and all of 'em work just fine.

Another +1 for the flexible LED/laser combo powered by watch batteries.
They're inexpensive, last a long time, work in any action, and are great for bench top work on small parts due that flexible neck.

I had read a lot of reviews on bore lights and a lot said they were junk, I was just looking for a decent one
