Bore Cleaning AR verses Bolt Actionl

Last week I shot my S&W 5.56 AR sport.
About 100 rounds.
This week I shot my Savage Axis .223 about 40 rounds.
Same Lake City Ball Ammo.
Btw I really like both rifles!!
But - I noticed tonight, the Savage seemed to take twice the cleaning patches than the AR.
Could it be because a lot of gas is used to cycle the AR and fowling ends up in the action instead of the barrel?
It just seemed very noticeable even with less than half the rounds being fired through the Axis than the AR.
The Axis bolt was spotless , can't say that for the ARs bolt and carrier lol

Savage rifles in general are known for rough bores that get dirty fast and take longer to clean.

No Jay it has a Melonite ? Coated barrel though.

They claim it is comperable to chrome.
Bets that's the reason !
