Bore cleaner

I have only tried one foaming cleaner that was supposed to work on copper, it did not work.

What I found that works is Bore Tech. I use their general purpose cleaner called "eliminator" which removes copper, I can attest to that. They also have a copper specific remover "CU+2" I have had great luck with their eliminator, shiny clean new looking barrels. Its a few steps but it works great, and there is almost no smell. Their process is basically run 3-4 patches with cleaner. scrub the bore 10-15 passes with cleaner, 3-4 more patches with cleaner, let it sit 3-5min, push dry patches. So far every barrel i have used it on has come out squeaky clean after doing the process once.

here is their web site, its also available on amazon

I used Hoppes copper cleaner on a few vintage rifles that had pretty noticeable copper fouling. They cleaned right up. Heck of a smell though.

The Patch out solvent with accelerator foams up to some extent but works on carbon and copper at the same time. Sometimes the bore needs a couple or three treatments depending on how bad the barrel is. It doesn't foam up alot but it can form a gel like plug that pushes out easily.

I will only use Slip 2000 products on my guns.
This is what I use for copper fouling. Works a charm as do all of their products.

Gunslick foaming bore cleaner.
Been using it for years, works great on copper. Foam turns blue when it attacks copper.

BreakFree Foaming Bore Cleaner does a pretty good job. It's not going to beat a really good dedicated copper solvent, but it works well enough to keep the bore clean under normal circumstances.

Wow, that stinks. Looks like SAFARILAND discontinued that product. I still have a couple of bottles but I'm going to be sad when it runs out.

If you want to remove copper, use KG-12. Not foaming and not really that pleasant to use, but it does work very well.
