Border Patrol agents in trouble.

From what I've read of this particular incident, it reminds me more of a "Shoot, Shovel, Shut up" situation than agents playing by the rules.

Granted, one agent was somehow attacked and taken out of the chase for a bad guy. The other continued pursuit, and when the suspect turned with a metallic object in his hand, the pursuing officer shot.

The suspect continued onwards, unaffected by the shot.

The officer did not file a report of the incident, despite:
1. His partner was injured by a suspect, and
2. He fired his weapon at the suspect after fearing that he had a weapon and was about to use it.

He fired his weapon in the line of duty and did not write a report on it.

Do you want your law enforcement in your area doing that?

I support the BP and I volunteer with the Minutemen twice a year, but this was wrong of these agents, IMO.

I’ve done lots of digging on this issue and to be totally honest, I am still not sure exactly what happened. I will say this however; the best I can determine, the agents acted within policy unless you believe all of what the drug smuggler says. The only thing the agents did wrong for sure was to clean up the scene of the shooting. Extremely idiotic on their part, and doing so really cast a pallor over the whole situation, discrediting the rest of their story. As far as the allegation that they didn’t report it, it appears that a supervisor was made aware of what happened. Most of the statements I can find (even statements from the prosecution) suggest that a supervisor was on scene shortly after the shooting.

He fired his weapon in the line of duty and did not write a report on it.
Border Patrol Agents involved in a shooting don't write reports about it. They make notify a supervisor, who does all the report writing. There is enough evidence out there to suggest that they did notify a supervisor.

Regardless, there is zero excuse for the agents cleaning up their fired brass, and because they did so I can’t help but think that there is more to their story than they are telling.
