Aho All

Help me find the right book on building a 1911 .45. I am rewriting this post as I hit the button to fast for some reason so that is why there is two of them

Aho All

You all will be pleased to know I am sure anyway:D that I am fineally replaceing my 9mm Lorcin with a pair of 1911 .45s I am waiting arrival on the parts to build two of them.

My question is what do all of you think is the best book that helps you build the 1911.45?

I also hate to ask this again as all I gotr last time was blasted but what if anything can be done to the Lorcin 9mm to make it a better gun I have run over 4,000 rounds though 2 of them now with no problems at all except for in both guns I have had one round missfire and I chalk that up to a bad piece of ammo. I have found plenty of clips for them. I also did some slide work to make them work more smoothly. SO even though I am getting the Colts I still stand by my 9mm Lorcins O and the Bryco 9mm 1,000 rounds no trouble.

Colt 1911 .45

Aho Mark IV

I do not get it I thought that the Colt 1911 .45 was a great gun why should I buy a High Point when I got 2 Essex frames comming and the parts to complete them also comming and they are all from Colt?

I think the 1911 guys would say you are nuts

Eagleman, can't you take a joke?

In my book, The Colt 1911-type can't be beat. I've got the Gov't Model and the Commander with complete reliability and no complaints.

Good luck with your 1911's! Let us know how they turn out.

If you can only have one book, it's The Colt .45 Automatic, a Shop Manual, by Jerry Kuhnhausen. After that probably Layne Simpson's The Custom Government Model Pistol. No comment on the Lorcins....

Eagleman - I am puzzled as to why you made this thread a completely useless poll. ??

As for the best book on the 1911, there are a lot of them out there, but I agree with motorep, Kuhnhausen's book is very good and the one I turn to most often for tuneups and repairs. And Simpson's book is slanted towards doing exactly what you want to do. If you order it from him instead of through a dealer, he will autograph it for you if that means anything to you.

(Say the word and I will attempt to remove those poll items.)

... meanwhile, a few minutes later ...

I see that you started a new thread on this subject. I'll try to merge the responses and get rid of the poll thread.

Standby....

It sort of worked. Turns out there is not way to delete a poll, so I closed it and added the two required fields.

Ok folks, the excitements over, there's nothing to see here. :)

Now back to the books.

Thanks

Aho All

Well the Poll I messedup and I could not get rid of it.

Thanks for the info on the books.

Mark IV sure I can but it did not sound funny get it sound funny so it is good to know you just said it as a joke I really got hammered last time I said the words Lorcin and when you said to buy a Hi-Point .45 I took as a slap that my 1911s where no good so I did get ruffled bit but alls cool now
