Jeff Thomas mentioned Unintended Consequences in a previous thread. I have seen the book before but only online and in a magazine. What does it entail? I will probably buy it but just wanted to know what it was all about. Any and all reviews welcome.

BTW, I just finished reading Vince Flynn's Term Limits and Transfer of Power and both were excellent. However, I coult be biased due to my recent introduction into the world of military/political fiction.

Any other authors worth reading along the same line as Stephen Hunter and Vince Flynn?

Thanks

Amazon.com has "on-line" reviews, as well as a plot description. Basically, the first 2/3 of the book detail how our rights have been systematically, KNOWINGLY, subverted by the gov't. The last 1/3 is pure fiction, and details what MIGHT be the end result. About 1000 pages. Riveting.

Another great one is Patriots by John Wesley Rawls.

Anyway, go to Amazon and check them out.

UC is basically a history of the American "gun culture" and government gun-control measures from about the turn of the century to the near future, told in the form of a novel that spans several generations.

It's pretty heavy on the technical side, but usually manages to stay interesting. The beginning third is kind of prissy, but things get seriously raw and violent as the story moves into present-day times.

I loved the book and re-read portions of it often.

The "Present day" portion of the book seemed to me like it was a bit rushed, and not nearly as thought out as the rest of it. I mean, why the heck wouldn't they have looked in the quarry right from the get go? Plus, the positions of certain people linked to the protagonist was a little too convenient to be wholly believable. Other than those few minor quibbles, it was a very excellent book and an enjoyable read. I highly reccomend it.
