Bolt wont release on my new savage axis 270

Anyone had this happen before, I'm trying to lift up and push down on the release but I can't get it out, I think I've tried everything

Try this.

Make sure that the rifle is unloaded. Check it again.

Put the safety on FIRE.

Unlock bolt. Pull trigger. Depress bolt release. Remove bolt. I normally pull the trigger with my index finger, depress bolt release with my thumb, remove bolt with my other hand. Works every time.

Nothing to it.

Get the manual online from Savage or contact Savage for a paper copy. Typically, Savage centerfire rifles have a three position safety.

I love the safety, it clicks off really easy but I don't think it could pop off on accident.
