Went to the range today and fired about 20 rounds, I loaded my next round closed the bolt and pulled the trigger... nothing. The bolt wont cock. Hoping its just spring.

Disassemble it now. Check to make sure the spring is still intact. Look up the manufacturer's instructions for dissembling the bolt. You'll know if it's broken.

it would help if we knew what model it was, what exactly happens when you try to cock it, pictures would help. odds are it's not a spring but more likely a cam is broken.

Do you know what make/model of rifle you're using?

I had that problem with a Rem 722 and it turned out to be a worn sear. Adding some tension to the sear engagement made it usable but in the end I replaced the trigger with a Rifle Basics.

Ruger MKII VT, it feels like it is cocking, in that the bolt gets stiff as you begin to close it, then you can feel it get much easier as the bolt is closing. The trigger does not reset. I could post pictures but externally I dont see anything that looks out of place.

Ok I see how it works, when you close the bolt, the cam moves back and cocks the trigger. The cam is moving back but the trigger is not cocking. I don't see any metal that looks like it is broken, it feels like the trigger never reset.

The sear is releasing the cocking piece as you close the action. I would guess an adjustment malfunction or grime in the trigger housing. You may try removing the trigger and flushing it with spray cleaner. Not WD40. If that doesn't help get thee to a gunsmith.

Ok, don't know what I did, but its working...strange. Burrhead you may be right..never had that happen before..

Thanks
