Bolt polishing

Have a 8mm Mauser would like to know if I can polish the bolt myself or should I let a gunsmith do it, what would I need to do job.
The reciver and barrel are in pretty bad shape what can be used to remove the old blueing, I like the bare metal look, or should I reblue the gun, would it be eaiser to care for blued, or unblued?
 
Cannot see your rifle, so just one caution:
If the rusting and pretty bad receiver refers to rust on the surface, O.K.
But Mauser receiver's are also subjuect ot pitting, very deep corrosion halfway or more into the receiver. This occurs most typically below the stock line, were it was never cleaned during its active service life.
If you have deep pits at the forward part of the receiver near the barrel threads, locking lugs, etc. the reciever is best discarded. The Masuer needs to be strong in this area.
