It sez to others, "I blew $100 bucks blingin' out my rifle!", but you know you only spent $50....... so you saved $50 bucks ....... glass 1/2 full or 1/2 empty?
It also cuts weight a tiny bit. It gives your rifle +100 kewl points.
Me, I've 5 kids and a gun collection to feed..... Jac needs a .243 or .260...... and I still need bullets. I lost all my cool points a long time ago, and m more interested in skills, life lessons, calories and practical ballistic problems.
But I don't build Rem 700s. I prefer actions that were designed around functionality and reliability - not manufacturing cost and price point.
When you get to an action design of my liking, I might mail a bolt in.
No, there's nothing wrong with the Rem 700. I just don't like it. It was designed for two reasons: 1. To get manufacturing costs down. 2. To set a new, lower price point. It succeeded, but with compromises. Yet, that massively-profitable design now sells for more than superior actions that are more intensive and expensive to produce....
