Bolt face change from 30.06 to 7mmRem Mag?

I am thinking of purchasing a 7mmRem Mag barrel for my pre 64 Win M70, which now has a 30.06 barrel.

What other changes would be required? Bolt face? .....................?

The reason is that it is a cloward stock, and i've a chance to get a cloward signed barrel....................long story!!!

If it were a Savage, i'd say yes.
With the Winchester i think you need a whole bolt assembly.

Get the bolt face opened up, screw in the new barrel. Since you have a Featherweight barrel on the gun already, make sure the replacement is also a featherweight profile.

You might also have to mess with the feed rails for smoother feeding. Mess that up and you'll have a problem.

I wouldn't mess with that rifle. I'd leave it as is, it's a beautiful rifle.

You will need a new extractor, too. Unless the '06 one can be modified.

Same bolt face 30-06 Sprg & 270 Win, same magazine.
Same bolt face 7mm Rem Mag & 300 Win Mag, same magazine.
In my case it is a Left handed TC Dimension receiver and composite stock.

That would have been my advice. A standard contour barrel wouldn't look right with that stock, and I wouldn't want a featherweight 7mm mag barrel.

is it a half Cloward M70 or is it a Cloward stocked M70 rifle??

I know which one sounds better to me...
