Does anyone know of any websites that offer new or used bolt action receivers? I have tried gunbroker.com as well as gunsamerica.com but have not seen any listed.

CRP: Try Brownells. They have several makes of actions, may have what your looking for. If your looking for Mausers you might try Gun Parts Inc.

Unless you are willing to pay serious money for a custom sporting or competition action, the easiest route is usually to buy a second hand rifle and strip it for the action. The barrel and stock can usually be resold for at least a little.

I don't know what sort of rifle you want to build. The Montana Rifleman makes a M-70 clone. There is a website .He makes barrels, too, and will fit and chamber.Brownell's sells CZ's and maybe some Rems.Seems like Brownell's or Midway sells Rem 798's and 799 mini-mauser bbl'd actions.I think Savages and Rugers are available, too.
If you are talking about extreme accuracy single shot rifles, try getting some issues of Precision Shooting or The Accurate Rifle magazine.
Milsurp actions ,try SARCO ,J+G,Springfield Sporters.
I will suggest, unless you want to make a beater utility rifle,or just want to do an old school experience, the milsurp route may not be the best choice.

Get a copy of SHOTGUN NEWS. They have about every type action you could want.

Mauser 98s are plentiful and cheap. You can just about build anything you want on them. Good actions. I made some dern good hunting rifles on these actions. Sure a lot cheaper then model 700s or model 70s.

I"m talking about 50 bucks a piece.

Kraigwy, just for clarity, most of the rifles I have built have been milsurp Mausers, and you are right! Darn fine rifles!
I still have 2 mexicans and a pristine 09 Argentine! I might suggest,we do it in part for the old school love of doing it.And that is OK
A .257 in a Mex is a sweet spot,course,so is a 7x57.
Hint to PC Due to a different case taper and how the mag stacks,a .308 in a Mauser can take some extra work. The 6mm Rem and .257 Roberts are necked down 7x57.The 8x57 is no slouch
Have fun.
