Boberg / Bond Arms Bullpup

Does anybody have any additional information in the Bond Arms Bullpup? Is it going to be essentially the same as the Boberg super shorty or the even shorter version (smaller than 5,1") that Boberg was supposedly working before being bought? Is it going to be all-metal again or maybe more lightweight than the original design? The Website is not very informative...

The most current update I've seen is in the link below, click onto the you-tube video. The owner of Bond Arms explains how many they are producing, improvements made, and future prices. Sounds like they are proceeding forward with a good plan. Watch the entire video, it's pretty informative.

Thanks for the link! Sounds very intriguing, though $900 MSRP is still a chunk o' change for a carry pistol, and from the sound of things, that's probably what they'll sell for for a while.

I've been interested in the Boberg design but was troubled by the fact that it was such a small company. Bond's acquisition of the brand (along with the improvements and the price reduction) is really good news.

I was on "the list" to purchase a Boberg 9. I passed when my name came up and now glad I did given the teething problems they were having.
I do hope Bond Arms gives the bullpup a good pedigree and I will buy one.

Teething problems? My XR9 is SN 32 and I haven't had any major issues with it. They sent a different mainspring in case of light primer strikes but I haven't experienced any issues. Only problem was the front sight dot fell out (wasn't properly prepped before painting). Other than that it's great.

I also have two others, XR9-L and XR45 and they also have been running great.

Well, I'm in the queue to purchase one of the new Bond Arms Bullpups, 9mm.
Can't wait to get it and shoot it. Bond Arms is taking orders now and they should be shipping in about 6 weeks m/o/l. :)

Got this email from Bond Arms.

Many of you have been patiently (or impatiently) waiting for the release of the Bond Arms BullPup...To give you an update, we are within about 3-5 weeks of starting to ship the first BullPups. (maybe sooner) BUT, before we do, we are going to offer you an opportunity to purchase one of the last of only 197 Boberg XR9S that will ever be made.

These Bobergs are what we received when we purchased the company, once these are gone there will never be another Boberg XR9S sold. This is an extremely small number of guns with Boberg’s original serial numbers on them.(These will be collector items) The only thing we added was Bond Arms Granbury, TX under the Boberg name on the frame (required by law since we now own them) AND we replaced the barrel and unlock block with the BullPup’s coated barrel and unlock block. This was done to eliminate the black gooey anti-seize grease that Boberg used. This greatly enhances the performance of the gun.

We have several different colors of frames to choose from in limited numbers, so once a color is gone, it’s gone. (Red and Blue Frames are now sold out) These will be collector items, so don’t miss out on this Special Offer.

Call 817-573-4445 and place your order now so you don't miss out on this exclusive opportunity….or email us at customerservice@bondarms.com

One other bonus we would like to tell you about:

When the Bullpup launches we will only be selling 150 per month
at $977 MSRP. (we are now taking orders) If you are a current Bond Arms owner, or you purchase one of the "Last Of The Bobergs" You will have the first opportunity to buy a Bond Bullpup. We already have over 10,000++ people who are waiting for one.

Don’t Hesitate!! Once we let this news out about the Bullpup gun, we will be extremely backordered…

“The Last of the Bobergs” will be sold at the original Boberg price of: $1,300.
Call 817-573-4445 and place your order now so you don't miss out on this exclusive opportunity…or email us at customerservice@bondarms.com

Thanks,

That's actually a really cool pistol design. Very few designs step outside of the box like that. I would be interested were it not for the steep price :(

Interesting video. So they have lowered the bore axis on the barrel? From what I can see, the bore axis isn't significantly different than on other semis.

Soft release? Customer Beta Testing?

I got my Boberg back in 2012 when the Boberg XR9-S was made available. It was neat times as a few of us would talk direct with Arnie Boberg on his page. Mine was early and did make a trip back to the factory. I even had a short pull trigger installed in mine. I bought extra springs, long barrel, and green/ red grips too. One of my treasured guns in my collection.
It did confuse the range officers as I put the bullets backwards in the magazine...LOL
One had to use specific quality ammo that was well crimped so not to pull the bullet. A real work of art. (pic of mine attached. Here you go a close up.)

I have a Boberg XR0-S. It really is a very well made little pistol. Those that have owned one will know why they cost $1,000+. This is a complex little pistol with a lot of hand finishing on it. I'm sure Bond Arms may have figured out how not to do so many hand finishing operations, and that's probably why they can keep the price down some. I believe I paid $900 for my Platinum used.

Looks like an interesting last ditch pocket pistol, a real get-off-me-gun. I usually carry something much larger, but that would make a nifty backup pistol, if it wasn't for the ammo pickiness. I get the whole reason why, but I wouldn't be shooting it much - my reloads would disintegrate under recoil!
Still, pretty cool, lower price point and improved functioning is great.

if it wasn't for the ammo pickiness.

There is plenty of readily available cheap and expensive ammo that it can shoot without a hitch. The gun is robust, and doesn't need to be babied like the Rohrbaugh. The only issues is that the ammo must either be sealed or crimped.

Got this email from Bond Arms.

<Snip>

I probably shouldn't be surprised, but they're already being flipped on GunBroker. The one I saw had a BIN price of almost $1700.

For that money I could almost grab two of the XR9's sitting on the shelf at my LGS right now, and just update the barrels and blocks once Bond gets production going...
