Blueing Ideas for Sig Controls

I have an opportunity to buy an all Stainless P226 .40 at a steel. The finish and controls show some wear. I feel confident that I can bead blast the stainless slide and frame to get a uniform look but I'm curious as to what I should do to restore the controls. Any ideas? Are there any spray on options that would give me a close match to the stock controls and be durable?

Depending on how bad the wear is you might even try something as simple as a bluing pen or some of the bluing solutions from Birchwood Casey. Again, depends on the wear and how much you want to spend.

Kind of depends on what the CONTROLS are made of. If they're aluminum alloy, cold bluing won't work. (They're probably steel.) There is a "blackening" solution for aluminum.

If you find that they're steel, OXPHO-Blue from Brownell's is probably the best bluing agent you can get for "do it yourself" work. Birchwood Casey's isn't nearly as good. (It's probably around $15 for a small bottle -- Birchwood Casey is probably $9 -- but it's enough for a LOT of bluing.)

There's no bluing SS(or Al). However, Birchwood Casey makes a blackener for both. Brownell's or direct from Birchwood Casey.
Plan 'B' would be one of the Duracoat, et al, baked on finishes.
"...If you find that they're steel..." Magnet.

There's no bluing SS..

Right.

I should have mentioned that when I said "steel" as SS is steel.

Most of the controls on stainless guns I've seen are usually dark -- finished in some way... so I wasn't thinking about stainless controls (or slides, for that matter...)
