Blue Wonder Gun Cleaner?

I ran across a thread here a few weeks back recommending this product. It got me interested and I see that Cabela's carries it which is a plus for me. Is this stuff safe if it gets on the plastic on the gun? I would like to use it on my M&P 15-22 but that gun is hard to clean without getting solvent on the plastic.

That stuff is an excellent cleaner. It did not hurt the Hogue rubber grip on my gun but I would wipe it off quickly. It is so strong that I haven't used it for anything else but their hot bluing kit to prep the surface. I'm surprised it's rarely recommended because that cleaner will clean the pores of the metal better than anything I've ever tried. It's designed to clean your gun that well because to reblue a gun you want zero contaminants.

Blue Wonder...

Utah Hunting--Blue Wonder is Good Stuff. Works on tough powder and lead fouling really well. I would check it on a hidden place of the plastic in question before slathering it on my firearm.

Long as I'm on the subject, though, I find that the foaming bore cleaners are about as good as, and require a bunch less scrubbing with a bore brush than, almost any liquid or gel cleaner (Blue Wonder is a gel.) Also, the foam cleaners dissolve copper fouling.

Well, the tube I have cracked and started leaking. So I'm not sure that the chemical is totally plastic-friendly.

In all fairness, my tube is probably three years old. Bought the kit to re-blue a shotgun and haven't gotten around to it yet. All it did was sit on the shelf for a while, then started leaking :(
