Blue or Stainless?

COMPLETELY forgetting what's practical (if that would change your decision), do you prefer the LOOK of a Blue/Black gun or stainless steel/nickel/inox/etc gun?

I prefer to look at a stainless, but because I carry my personal guns off-duty so tactical considerations demand that blue or matte are better choices.

It depends on the gun. I love nickel or high gloss stainless on single actions.....but then there is a lot that can be said about the looks of a single action with ivory grips in blue. Since single actions must come in pairs (now there is a gun control law I could get behind.....make it a requirement that everyone had to have single actions in multiples of two ;)) person needs at least one pair in each finish.
On double action revolvers I hate the looks of stainless, high gloss or other wise. Make my double actions deep, high gloss blue.
Autos look better in stainless.....mat stainless.
Rifles need to be blue with real wood stocks...high gloss and none of this lamenate. (I have never seen a lamenate tree in the woods!)
Double scatterguns need real wood, blued barrels and nickel of stainless receivers/side plates. Pumps need to be blue with real wood.
Easy, right? :D

FUD; I prefer the Tennifer finish; I wish
more manufacturer's offered it! :D

Hard chrome is great. It has the good looks of stainless, more or less, yet it allows better smithing because of the carbon steel.

Best yet, have some of each!

Afternoon Fud,

Stainless, however, a DEEP blueing also provides mighty fine look (strictly for cosmetic consideration).

Regards.

Like high polish nickel or mirror polished stainless. For that matter, I'd love to find a good set of pearl handled ( mother of pearl ) grips to put on a nickeled handgun for times when the New Orleans pim_ look is in order.

On autos I prefer hardchrome; brushed finish on the slide flats and matte finish everywhere else. I always keep the sights blued. Also like kingwood or cocobolo grips.

On revolvers, I prefer a small bead blasted stainless finish with presentation grade cocobolo grips (from Craig Spegel)

I like blue. Especially the older deep dark bottomless blue S&W and Colt did once upon a time.

I prefer stainless; my fingerprints seem to show up better on blued finishes and the upkeep seems generally to be more time consuming with blued.

It's six of one, a half a dozen of the other for me. I like both finishes.
