It's even worse, according to the site.

While you're there, click on the grassroots button and write your reps about gun control, takes only 2 minutes.

They have since apologized.

The organizers of the Mayors Against Illegal Guns campaign on Wednesday apologized for including Boston Marathon bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev among a list of shooting victims' names that were read during a demonstration in Concord on Tuesday.
<snip>
The gun control group put out a statement Wednesday saying rally organizers relied on a list compiled by Slate.com of people killed by guns since the Dec. 14 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., "and his name was on the list."
You'd think they could tell the difference between "people killed by guns" and "victims of gun violence"... and that someone might have gone over the list before they read it in public.

Moved to General Discussion. This isn't really an L&CR topic.

Vanya,

Sorry about posting in wrong place.

Anyhow, this does show how that group thinks, or doesn't think is more accurate.

I wonder if anyone ever compared the number of mayors in this group, to the total number of mayors in the US? Take a look at the percentage difference.

Why did they apologize at all? They were right. At least in a technical sense anyway. Everyone shot by the police is a victim of gun violence by the police. How could anyone dispute that?:rolleyes:

However, by using that phrase, one normally associated with innocent people, it does create a false impression. My guess would be what they were really apologizing for was for getting caught creating a false impression. But that's just my opinion.

it makes complete sense when you get to thinking about it, if the brady group can use 25 year olds killed while commiting armed felony crimes, then surely a terrorist killed by police during a high speed pursuit that involved said "victim" tossing homemade explosives at passing vehicles in their list.

I did find it enlightening when it was revealed that the numbers for "death of a child due to a handgun" included anyone under the age of 25, shot & killed with anything, by anyone (including those shot by the police).

These people have proven, time and time again that the truth doesn't matter to them. All that matters is something, taken at face value that supports their agenda. Even when caught in a bold face lie, all that ever happens is sometimes, we get an apology.

And usually, they go right on using the false data, as if nothing had ever happened. If they can't find a valid sounding statistic to mislead us with, they make one up. There seems to be no shortage of that...
