Yes, I often feel it's just some sort of "wink-wink" between various municipal authorities and the security for all these elitist.

Wasn't it Bloomberg's bodyguards that were caught a few years ago carrying fully auto weapons? Seem like I remember something like that happening while Bloomberg was doing his pawn shop buys.

The very same bunch. They were Mayoral guards, then, IIRC, dispatched out of NYC to perform gun shop 'stings'.

They should have gone straight to federal prison, and the mayor impeached for misusing City tax monies, but some pigs are more equal than others, you know.

What else is new.

I'm special; you're not.

Money talks; BS walks.

I'm sure some of the Hollywood and political anti-gun people are excluded from the constraints of self-protection that the common folk must endure.

....just because you and I need permits(permission) ....how dare you to expect the elite ...to obey the laws they impose on us...

I expect it, because by and large, they DO obey the same laws they impose on us. They just do it with resources that aren't available to the rest of us.

I'm fully certain that all the rich, powerful, famous folks that get permits in places where most folks can't have met ALL the legal requirements. All the "I"s dotted and the "T"s crossed.

Just because they can afford to have an employee do the paperwork, and walk it through the system, just because bureaucrats, knowing which side their bread is buttered on may give them priority treatment and automatic pro forma approval doesn't mean they aren't following the same laws we are, does it???

does it?

"I'm fully certain that all the rich, powerful, famous folks that get permits in places where most folks can't have met ALL the legal requirements. All the "I"s dotted and the "T"s crossed."

This sir is an assumption.......

That goes with the JPFO or GOA saying the first gun control laws were racisist in origin. Kind of funny how things are all a kind of circular logic. "Everything that goes around ..."

met ALL the legal requirements. All the "I"s dotted and the "T"s crossed."

well, of course it's an assumption, I don't know them personally....

But I think its a pretty fair assumption, that all the NEEDED LEGAL REQUIREMENTS were met. I'm sure the records will so reflect.

And why wouldn't they be? If you've got the juice to get one of the permits, why wouldn't all the paperwork be done correctly? The rich folk aren't wasting their personal time filling out and filing the paperwork, the actual fees are a pittance at their income levels, and while there may be special "waivers" for them, its all legally done. Anything else would be stupid.

If you've got the pull, the only thing you'd would have to do personally is sign your name. You can probably get away without getting fingerprinted just for the permit. Prints on file from other things could simply be attached, so as not to inconvenience you. Unlike most of us who have to submit new prints specifically for the permit, even though our prints might be in the system elsewhere.

All I'm saying is that while they ride in the limo and we wind up pushing the bus, the same laws apply.

What their money and influence get them around is the BS of the bureaucratic system, not the actual law, itself.

Is it fair? Most of us don't think so. The cynic in my says "its completely fair, anyone with the money to buy a politician or a bureaucrat can do so..."
of course, the fact that we don't all have the money to do that isn't "fair" but that's a different matter.

isn't it??
:D

for those who can't tell, the above post is intentionally sarcastic in several places.

Sleepy old Canada has this problem licked.

You approach the powers that be in your City, local firearms Officer, he deals with RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) on your behalf.

If successful, you obtain a Cross Canada Carry Permit. That gives you the ability to carry a handgun, concealed, anywhere in Canada.

I would think that Bloomberg's Body Guards, are all retired Police, and have to take the mandatory training program each year.

A secondary employment, whilst retired, would be no detriment, easy aye!

If traveling in a privately owned Aircraft, no permission would be required.

Those of us who read George Orwell's Animal Farm, can easily understand it.

“All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”

And Orwell's Animal Farm was illustrating Comunism, think about THAT!

I was born in the communist dictatorship.
I lived my first 27 years of my life in it.
My grandfather had 2 wife, and 27 kids, 14 from one wife, & 13 from the other.
I learned from both side of the fence too. Some of them were the slaves, while others the Masters.
So let me put it a different way.......

"Quod licet Iovi, non licet bovi."

In English: What is permitted to Jove is not permitted to an ox.

Also note, English can never hope to capture the delightful rhyme which is, in a sense, the point of this Latin proverb.
