Blazer Ammo

Hello guys,

I was at the range today and noticed they had a different brand on the shelves. They had boxes of blazer 9mm. The big difference though was the casings were made out of aluminum.

Just curious, has anybody heard anything about these rounds? They say that it is cleaner. Is this true? Also does anybody know about any detrimental effects to the inner workings of a semi-auto caused from the use of aluminum?

Thanks,

Gatorgun

While I do not shoot them very often as they are not much cheaper than brass cased ammo, I have never heard of any damage being caused to firearms from aluminum cases. I shoot steel cases through my pistols commonly and they have no caused any sort of damage so i highly doubt the aluminum would.

Blazer alum is decent stuff. I used to shoot a lot of blazer brass which is now federal champion from what I have heard. Great for people who do not reload.

I like shooting aluminum in my guns, but my HK P30 manual cautions against the use of aluminum in the gun. Doesn't specifically say why, just says don't use it.

I have used it for years. They use Speer slugs and CCI primers.

They make a "Clean Fire" that I have never used but their standard aluminum cased stuff is pretty clean too. I shoot it mostly in .45acp and it is way cleaner than Winchester White Box. I have used it in .40 and 9mm too, no malfunctions of the guns or ammo.

It is great stuff for range use. You cannot reuse the aluminum cases though.

I have used Blazer aluminum for some time now and have never had a problem. It is cleaner shooting than some other brands that I have used. Unfortunately, the price difference between aluminum and brass rounds is narrowing in my area.

The CZ-75B I had would stovepipe one Blazers, so you might want to start with a box and check for function in your pistol before buying too many. Other than that one weapon, I've never had a problem, except for the fact that I reload and the cases can't be reused.

Blazer works for me

I have used Blazer aluminum for years, in several different calibers. It can be up to 20% cheaper than the cheapest brass ammo. It has always worked well for me, in a variety of guns.

Had a bunch of it on hand back in the mid 90s, and hated it -- my High Power choked on the stuff all the time, only ammo that pistol ever stove piped and failed to feed with. No damage to the pistol, but definitely not something that it liked.

I've used them without issue as range ammo. If the price is right, they are good ammo to burn up at the range. Keep in mind that "cleaner" doesn't mean "clean."

I have used them up to 44 Mag without issue I bought about 7 boxes of the 44 spl. Blazer ammo with 200gr Gold Dots in them. Good S.D. ammo.

I have used Blazer aluminum cases in the past but for a few dollars you can get reloadable brass.

I've used them and still have a couple cases of them on the shelf. They are fine for the range in my opinion. You can't reload them so they work when you don't want to pick up brass. The only problem I have had with them is when using a pistol with a light hammer spring. I found they have rather hard primers and got some light strikes. With a standard hammer spring in a pistol they worked just fine. I didn't have any feed or extraction problems and they seem to be fairly accurate too. They are not the dirtiest round I have ever fired. I have not found any Blazer Alum. ammo selling as cheap as the S&B brass 115 grain FMJ from Surplus Ammo. The also work well in my 9 mm pistols and can be reloaded. The powder does smell different from the Blazers and is only really noticeable when shooting at an indoor range.

I've shot blazer ammo for years in 10 mm, 40 S&W, and now 45 ACP - usually 50 - 100 rounds per week - it's geat stuff - clean and all I would ask of ammo.

I too have shot the Blazer aluminum cartridges in .38, .357 (GP100,hundreds of rounds) and lately in .380 Bodyguard--never a prob, always a good price

I haven't shot their aluminum stuff in years. That's all they used to sale. The last few years I've been buying their 230 fmj .45's. The call it Blaser Brass to differentiate between the two product lines. Shoots fine and I can reload the brass.

I shoot a lot of the Blazer aluminum at the range 'cause they are often available for the right price. No problem in ether revolvers (various calibers) or my Kimber 1911 45 acp. They also seem to shoot a little cleaner (based on observations during cleaning) than some of the other lower-cost rounds (not even considering the Russian stuff).

I shoot the blazer rounds when I can get em. They are decent at the range. Aluminum is softer than brass in is pure form, however some castings can be harder than brass.

I cant imagine the castings marring anything up in a pistol considering even the cheapest mim part is still going to be metallically harder than aluminum.
