What is your opinion of .44 Mag ammo from Blazer? I have not shot any yet, but I do have a box of it. The first thing I noticed when I opened the box was the color of the casings. They look like anodized aluminum----and the hollow point cavity is pretty miniscule. I was just wondering what y'all thought about that particular brand. So, what say ye?

well-not reloadable aluminum case,i have shot about 8 boxes of it and is a light load for 44 mag -easy to shoot and seemed somewhat accurate.still cheap ammo,it got me into reloading to make better!
i think i have a few boxes left and will save thoese for my wife to start with if she wants to shoot 44.

As stated they are alum. casings with Berdan priming to discourage reloading and will only safely withstand the pressure of firing one time. As for the bullet, if the box says Gold Dot JHP it is one of the best JHP designs to come along in quite a while. The 200 gr. has a huge cavity, the 240 gr. slightly smaller. You may have an older box that was made before the Gold Dot introduction. I have purchased probably 500 rounds of the .44 Spl. Gold Dot Blazer and the factory load will reach almost 900 fps. from a 3 in. revolver. I actually have pulled most of them down to use the bullets in my own handloads in Federal brass cases with Federal primers. It is the best .44 Spl. load I have seen. I have read that the Magnum and Spl. bullets use a different construction, mainly to get reliable expansioon from the slower Spl. loading.

STRONGLY discourage the use of Blazer ammo in the Desert Eagle pistol!

Other than that, fine cheap one time use ammo, not loaded to max top end performance in .44 Mag.

If one carries .44 Special such as Buffalo Bore Heavy .44 Special, I think the Blazer .44 magnum makes for more economical practice. Not everyone reloads.

Blazer shoots quite accurate through all my 44 maggies. The only problem I had was failure to eject in my old Ruger carbine.

Shot well out of my Marlin 1894 Limited (16"), with some slight feeding issues, not sure why. Gun was new at the time, but brass cases worked flawlessly. Worked well on whitetail as expected.

As other posters have already pointed out the Blazer aluminum cases are not for reloading. However I have shot this ammo for year and years and found them to be both accurate and reliable and, oh yes, relatively inexpensive.

I've shot it in a couple of S&W revolvers and one Ruger and didn't really have any problems with it. It is on the light side for .44 Magnum but it's inexpensive (a relative term when talking about .44 Magnum ammo). I'll buy a box here and there when I want to shoot my .44 but don't feel like sitting down and the reloading press. Usually though, I stick with my handloads in that particular caliber.
