The barrel is supported by the "action block" only in the chamber area, leaving the rest of the length free floating.
This is a desirable feature.
Gunsmiths spend a lot of time free floating barrels in custom stocks to ensure acuracy.
The free floating prevents pressure on the barrel from the stock as the barrel heats up during firing and/or flexing of the stock's forend.
Their return to zero when the barrel is removed from, and replaced in the action is excellent.
The rifles are very accurate.
I speak from experience with Rich's R93 long range tactical version. No experience with the wood stocked sporters, but I presume that they are set up essentially the same.
