Not me.

The fiancee is headed to a bunch of sales that friday.

I will be headed out to Utah's west desert with some of my family and the future father-in-law to do some plinkin, and stay as far away from civilization as I can for the day.

I don't do black friday... Ever...

Me and the wife stay home and make turkey sammiches and watch more football...

Too many daggum people do too much crazy junk on black friday (fighting over who gets a certain TV, ipod, gameboy, fluffy pink stuffed bunny, whatever other stupid crap people buy on that day)...

(*_*), we're going to have to give you a nickname, if you don't provide yourself with one.

I suggest "StinkEyes". ;)

As for your question....
Nope. The only retail establishment you might catch me in on Friday is a gas station.
Cabelas has 10/22s for $169, Heritage Rough Riders for $149, Lead Sleds for $99, and some cheap ammo; but I'd rather pay MSRP, than deal with that zoo.

A local farm supply store will have $50 off all Taurus handguns. If they had something decent, I might consider it... but they're a farm supply store. Their handgun selection isn't the best (and there's only one Taurus handgun I might consider paying for). :(

Sportsman's Warehouse wouldn't be too bad. ...but I have to travel through some seriously congested areas (near malls and/or shopping areas), to get to the store. That won't be happening.

So, I'll be meeting up with Crankylove in the desert. Maybe we'll be able to get a few rabbits to cook up over the weekend. Left over turkey, fresh rabbit, and re-fried catfish... sounds good to me.

:p I guess im the only one who likes the crowds! Maybe we can have a vote for my nickname thread :D Something about a discount has always compelled me out into the wreathing mess that is black Friday, the real sales will only be announced Thursday but there may be some deals. I think its more about the fun of talking to other people waiting in line, I manage to meet interesting people every year. Its the same feeling as X-mas.

I RARELY subject myself to the madness known as "Black Friday".
Last year I bought a Craftsman toolbox bottom for about half price, took about 15 minutes in the store, and went back home to bed!
Sometimes I will locate something I want bad enough to go, but not often.

My cousin said he got a killer deal on a gun safe on Black Friday.

Myself, I'm staying at home with the sleeping kids while the wife and her friend go out to some stores. I'm gonna try to get her to CC as both of them are pregnant and people can get a little crazy.

The ads are almost all up now.

Black Friday rocks!

As a "vet" of several Black Fridays, all I can say is - snooze you lose.

I despise crowds - however - there's two crowd events that are extremely upbeat and festive.

Casinos and Black Friday pre store opening lines.
Neither were anything at all what I was lead to believe.

Black Friday is a scam for cupon-o-holics and people who really believe that a polyester garment made in China is really on sale when the price has been marked down from $120 to $35.

"killer deal" ? I wonder how many heart attacks or other medical problems occur because of Black Friday ?

Just on the news this morning. Its all a scam that the store inflate prices prior to the sale then post sale prices making all thing they are getting the bargain of the century. I'll sleep in you go sleep on the sidewalk waiting for the store to open.

Why do folks assume that on "Black Friday" stores cease making any profit and simply give stuff away that you would actually want.

Yep --- I got really hosed last year on the $60.00 set of Craftsman wreches I picked up for $19.99.
So much so that I bought a set in metric too.

Always cracks me up when people knock Black Friday.

I woke up at 0300 to go to a store one BF and froze with a pile of humanity fighting to move up in line if you looked away. The item I wanted was sold to the first 25 people ahead of me in line. Went back two weeks later. Same item. Same price. 1300 hours on a bright warm sunny day and I walked calmly to the register with no waiting.
Good luck to you.

I guess im fortunate it never is too cold where I am (Friday supposed to be 69/49), although I once camped out outside of a store in Milwaukee waiting for a TV. I did end up snapping up the sig 2022 in my first post, and I cant wait until Thursday for the adds to come out. Occasionally they change the scans that show up online on Thursday, but not often. I have narrowed it to three possible places to be but Thursday will be decision day. Also some places open at 5 or 6 am and considering im going to buy enough electronic components for two new boxes midnight or 1am Thursday online, then its off to the stores.

Went to china-mart this morning for freezer bags... 7:15 am ...pretty quiet...not many people around...still had trouble dealing with it...rushed back to the ranch to cut up my buck.
I just can't visualize me being there on Friday!!!

It looks like WalMart is starting at midnight.

My son got a job working in a mall & this will be his first taste of Black Friday.
(He's 39, been out of work for a number of years & always though my wife and I were crazy to get up and go out @ 4:00am)

He has to be at work on Thursday night just before Midnight, then work until 10:00pm - that's 22 straight hours!
That's insane.
Working people those long hours is just asking for problems.

Our local WalMart is undergoing construction & as a result, over half the parking lot is closed off. A few of the parking lanes dead end into a fence - once you get in, the only way out is the way you drove in.
That's going to cause such a huge traffic mess, I'll be real surprised if it doesn't result in a real violent episode.

I've personally never seen even a hint of any of the goofiness people say happens in the ~ 10 years we've been hitting BF.
The nearest I've ever seen was some woman freak out and start crying because the she couldn't walk across the store - due to the long checkout lines.
As soon as people saw her distress, they made a nice wide path for her & several people got out of line to escort her by the hand across the store.
The people around where the ones that left their place in line made sure they held their places for them.

Yes - people do tend to be in a hurry to get to the $20 shop vacs @ Home Depot,,,but,,t he line outside the store prior to opening is always upbeat and festive - no matter what the weather.

I'm not trying to convince anyone to roll out of bed and rush to BF.
If you don't care to, that's fine by me - just one less person in line right?

But - please don't spread false information about uncontrolled mobs and prices.
That's just not true.
In conunction w/that, please don't drag out some isolated instance that recieved a lot of press - post it - and say that's what all BF stores are like.

Millions of people visit hundreds of thousands of stores on that day and have no problems at all - matter of fact, from what I've seen the overwhelming majority enjoy themselves and behave in a sane, rational and even festive mannner.

Sound familiar?
It should - because that's exactly the type of thing the anti gun people do.
They point to Columbine and lump the rest of us in with those two criminals.

off my soap box now.....
