Black rifle

I am considering purchase of a semiautomatic rifle in 308 caliber.
I have looked at the DPMS panther series in particular the oracle in 308 with 19 round magazine. I have heard there are other similar weapon systems out there i.e. Bushmaster. My dealer does not have an extended variety.

Anybody have experience or comments regarding this type of rifle?

I would appreciate any useful information

I have had a DPMS LR308 AP4 Carbine for 6-7 years now I have been very happy with the rifle,it has always functioned flawlessly with no jams or mis-fires. Shoots small groups and fit and finish is very good,I wouldn't hesitate to make the same purchase.

Just a word of caution... ARs and their ability to easily customize them is very addicting. I just finished attaching everything I've wanted on mine; now I'm already thinking of building another upper reciever.

44, welcome to the forum and asking your question.

I own a DPMS LR-308B, equipped with a Nikon 3-9X40, which I use for range time and hunting. It is a nice rifle, but not something I'd want to take on long walks.

Bushmaster does make a .308 AR format. Go take a look at their site and I'm sure you can get all the details. One thing I've noticed with the Bushmaster .308 entry level model is the gas block is a cut-off A frame front sight post. This pretty much negates the option of installing back-up iron sights if you want them.

RT threw some very respected names from this field at you. If one thing is for sure, by looking into those models you will learn there is a very wide price field out there, but in this business you get what you pay for.

Good luck with your research and purchase decision.
