Black Rifle 101

AR-10

New member
Went to the range today and shot handguns and rifles.

I was shooting my AR-10 at about 250yds. when someone came in and drove up toward where my target was set up. :( I saw them come in, so I quit shooting, threw the gun in the truck, and followed them up to the target stand. They were setting up a target when I got there, and we started to chat about what we were all intending to do.

I recognized one of the fellas from trap shooting, so I knew him at least. I wasn't done shooting, but they wanted to check the scopes on some hunting rifles at 100yds., so I said go for it if you don't mind me watching. I watched them shoot for about half an hour, and decided to go ahead and set up my rifle at one of the tables as they seemed to be about done.

Uncased the 10, stuck a 20rd. mag in,extended the tri-pod and sat it on the table about 20yds. to one side of them. I turned around to put the scope cover in the guncase and I heard one of the guys' jaws drop. Next thing I knew I had three young guys standing at my table wanting to know what THAT gun was. :D

So, out of kindness and for the good of us all, I told them. Well, that and a sinfully large amount of pride.;) Showed them how to operate it. Let them each burn up 18 rounds. Got out the Bushmaster AR-15. Showed them how to operate it. Let them each burn up 28 rounds. They were thrilled. They wanted a black rifle BAD!

I had more fun than they did.:)

I love range sessions like those.
I have converted a lot of guys to "black rifles"(AR or AK, take your pick). I think it is great when we can show shooters that the "black rifles" aren't just for the para-military type of enthusiast.

They didn't follow you home did they? I get a little nervous when I have a table full of AR's and a bunch of people come over to check them out.
I have a safe to put my mind at ease but that wont stop someone from breaking a window some night while I'm gone.
I know this dosen't have much to do with your story but it's something I think about a lot. My job keeps me away from home too much.

I have a 24lb. attack dog that scares the hell out of my friends and family. My kids won't walk in the house without knocking.:D

I knew one of the guys, and see him several times a month during the trap season, or I would not have been so generous. It was a lot of fun to see them try out and enjoy the rifles so much. I know I hooked at least two of them.

BWAHAHAHAHA!!!

" Come to the Dark Side!":)
