modern day pistol ammo is getting so hard to buy that im starting to fall in love with my remmy! It seems like black powder products are the only thing left in stock at the stores any more.this weekend at my local bass pro shop there was plenty of caps powder and lead for black powder guns but there was no pistol ammo what so ever.Maybe with this current problem of no modern day ammo available black powder pistols will not be considered obsolete any longer!Im starting to become a real believer in black powder products im even thinking about getting a black powder rifle which i thought id never do.by the way have any of u guys ever made home made black powder? just curious i know how explosive it is !

I think I know another reason

Went shooting yesterday afternoon.

Forgot the battery for my chrony.

Wind blew my Pyrodex all overthe table so I shifted to Goex.

Day was warm enough to melt the Bore Butter so it didn't stay where I wanted it.

Found out the load level on a recently purchased 1851 Navy drops with each shot. A project to work on.

My 1851 Sheriffs Model chain fired, I think because of a cap fit problem. Now the arbor is loose. Another project to work on.

I got sweat, smoke and soot all over my face and arms

Got melted bore butter all over my fingers and now I can't grip the steering wheel in my truck because there is bore butter all over it.

I got dishpan hands from spending two and a half hours cleaning pistols.

Had to explain to the missus why I was baking pistols.

I shot up all my ammo so now I have to make some more.

When I woke up this morning, my wife said, "Cripes you stink!"

God..I love it!

LOL! You just described my last visit to the range as well!!

Thanks Doc, that was pretty dang funny. :)

Cheers,
Oly

Hey Doc... Youre begining to sound like you enjoy our sport!
Join the crowd..
I know what you mean about "enjoy looking at it" I am still trying to understand my own fascination with the black powder finery. Part of that is due to the fact that I am an engineer, and I marvel at what was possible in a time when there were no CNC machine centers; only some hand tools and a dedication to creativity and craftmanship. Looks like fun to me!

Award

Mocons,

I know that I read an article a number of years ago in which it was said that the colt 1860 Army revolver was given award for its design even though the pistol design was a hundred and some years old. It was not an award as a weapon but as a design incorporating function and beauty.

I would be willing to bet that many buyers of these revolves never shoot them or don't shoot them that much. They buy them because they are a work of art, consideing as you say the era in which they were created.
