black powder and motorcycles

I shoot BP and ride, shooting range 30 miles going. Would it be ill advised to carry bp and etc.. in saddle bags  safest way to store powder on bike. Thanks

Farthest away from potential heat or flame with maybe a little extra insulating material or padding to keep sparks/flame away, at least for a longer period of time if the bike caught on fire.
And if there were an auto accident, the chances are that you would no longer still be on the bike and therefore would be separated from the powder.
The powder cans aren't supposed to build up as much pressure as a pipe bomb would either but are designed to release it sooner.
And aren't some now made of plastic?
Transporting black powder shouldn't be anything to really worry about but substitute powders would seem to theoretically be a "slightly" safer alternative.
It's probably less to be concerned about than the fuel on board that's running through the fuel lines.
I wouldn't worry about anything but having a good time once you get there! :)

It depends on how hot your saddle bags get. On a cruise it can get really hot and I would be careful. On a top case it is ok I would think. I would test it by putting something, a liquid, water bottle or sandwich in it for a while. If you would still eat the ham cheese on mayo, you will be fine :p

One of those small foam "lunchbox" coolers comes to mind, and/or wrapped in a towel or similar.

I useta ride mine in leather saddlebags close to two inch unbaffled drag pipes on a 66 Electra Glide.

I came out of the mountains and blew into Oroville, CA on Sunday and officially it was 107 degrees there (felt much hotter). I'm pretty sure water would spontaneously ignite in that heat, so I didn't pack any of that on my bike, much less BP.
