Black Panthers confront GOP - armed

In a fascinating case matching Shoemaker's intent, the Black Panthers arrived OPENLY ARMED at the Texas GOP convention (to demonstrate against the pending execution of a convicted murderer).


KPRC reports the story.


Compare:
- Shoemaker declares his intent to peacefully go for a walk while armed.
- Black Panthers, with no prior declaration, show up in a (stretch!) Humvee and pile out, carrying assault weapons, to make a threat of violence against the Texas GOP in general, and implicitly to the Texas Governor specifically, regarding the death penalty.


Both exercise free speech and RKBA.
Both come from the extreme far ends of the political spectrum.
Both threaten (verbally or visually) violence against anyone who opposes their RKBA.

The comparison of the outcome of these two cases will be very interesting.

Amazing! Is that an M-1 Carbine I see in the foreground? My, my, when a Militant group threatens Republicans with semi-auto rifles, they are rightfully reported as "rifles". But if I where to defend my family from a BG with my little 9mm Camp Carbine, I'll guarantee that the media would spout how I mowed down the poor, innocent, victim of his environment with a (gasp) "Assault Weapon". Guess I shouldn't be surprised.

If gun owners carried rifles of any kind into the building where the Democrats were having their convention, do you think they'd be arrested? And what are the laws in Texas on carrying rifles into public buildings?

How is Hillary going to defend this? Jesse?

No, I think we would be shot on sight!

I was half sarcastic, but there is still that small part of me that expects people to be fair and honest. Maybe I'm still living in a dream world. Hopefully better days to come.
 
It is still a fact that the Fruits of Islam were armed with shotguns during the MMMM. (The forth M designates "minus".)
To the best of my knowledge, belief and recollection that is illegal in DC.

Well, I may disagree with the new Black Panthers, but there is a part of me that appreciates their style. IMHO, this demonstrates a part of the essence of the RKBA.

There is one huge difference between this incident and that of Shoemaker ... the new Black Panthers exercised their RKBA in the free state of Texas, and Shoemaker is fighting his battle in the people's republic of Illinois. The NAACP should take note of this difference, and drop the lawsuits against the gun manufacturers.

I'm glad to see that Texas authorities are handling this so well.

Something I dont understand. I live in Oklahoma. We just had an execution 2 nites ago in one of the prisons. That is the 3rd in a month if I remember correctly. All 3 guys were white. So if by what this guy is saying that it is the "white supremist regime" [to keep the black man down] then why did these 3 white convicts get executed? I would think that if it was the way he said that there would be no white people executed and these 3 men would still be alive? Am I crazy here or is it this Quanell dude? Some people completely baffle me in their thinking!!!!

Good for them. Let everyone exercise their legal rights. Carrying a long arm in TX is legal.

Let the pro-abortion guys to the same thing.
Let Gays do the same thing at their political marches!!

There are still Black Panthers?

I thought they were all dead? Remember the crack-head, former black panther, shot to death in Oakland?

Really I'm surprised the organization still exists.
 
They still exist, and are apparently reasonably well-off: they showed up for the event/confrontation in a stretch Hummer.
 
Watch and see: groups like the Panthers will become the Brown Shirts for the Left when they declare a national emergency and martial law.

These street-thug psychopaths will be liquidated after a few years, to be replaced by indoctrinated and more disciplined lunatics.

I tell ya folks, we're in Weimar Germany and everyone's just waiting for the Fuhrer.

Glenn is absolutely correct. In Texas you may carry open or concealed, loaded or empty, any long gun in a non-restricted area. In fact the George R. Brown Convention Center is host to a Saxet gun show every month. The unlicensed possession of firearms is not legal in any location that sells any alcoholic beverage, that includes grocery stores and convienence stores.
 
I probably don't agree with many of the Black Panther's political views. They do, however, embody the spirit of the 2nd amendment. They understand that they have the God-given, constitutionally confirmed right to keep and bear arms for personal defense against those who would do them harm-including the government.

Is this a great country, or what?

The interesting thing about this guy about to be executed is that there was an eye witness to the crime who swears to this day that she is absolutely certain it was him. I saw her interviewed. She is obviously convinced. She was pretty adamant about it and frustrated by all of the media attention and the proposition that she can't be correct simply because she happened to be the only one in the parking lot who saw the shooting occur.
 
Hey everyone these guys call themselves the "New" Black Panthers. They are not in any way affiliated with the Black Panthers of the past! In fact, if memory serves, the Black Panthers were at one time thinking about suing the New Black Panthers for using the Black Panther name.

The New Black Panthers show up in Dallas a lot and are known here more for their self serving, self agrandizing made for TV stunts. Their numbers are very small. Maybe a dozen members tops! I imagine that they rented the stretch Hummer that they were reported to be using just for the ocassion.

Biggles, this "Quanell-X" dude is the same htae infested bigot that, about 8 months ago, got on TV and told his "people":

"If you get mad about something just don't do harm to each other or your own neighborhood. Go over to River Oaks (very nice upscale neighborhood) and mug some white people."

He said this on TV and in fron tof a dozen reporters. A year earlier, this same cretin, after an armed black youth tried to shoot a police officer and himself was shot, told the TV and reporters again that "we now have a war against the police and we will defend ourselves by any means necessary - any means necessary!!"
